Have any Freepers used nomorobo to block robo calls?
Can it be trusted when used with simultaneous ring from my home phone?
Ringing has gone berserker today for some reason.
Hammer.
Sledge Hammer.
I use it, it works great. Works on internet based phone service like Road Runner or Uverse. You set up your service using an alternate number answer. NOmorobo gives you the number to use in your set up. Your phone rings once nomorobo picks up rhe call and hangs up on it. Excellent.
I started using NoMoRobo about six months ago. Highly recommended! Works like a champ.
All regular calls still get through. I’ve got our Panasonic phone set for different ring tones for Family, Business, and Work calls. I have the ringers on the four handsets set to ring for those calls but not ring for others. I rarely hear the first ring on NMR.
Every evening, I look at the call log on our phone. If any junk calls get through (one to four a week DO get through), I immediately 1) log onto NMR and report the calls and 2) add them to call block on the home cordless phone.
We went from maybe 10 junk calls a day to zero on most days. It is really a God send for those of us who still use either traditional landlines or cable TV phone lines.
I generally don’t take calls unless I know the person, and often not then. They can leave a message or text. So I set the default ring to nothing, then assign different rings to people I want to be able to call.
I use nomorobo and I swear by it. I’ve had no problems at all and 99+% of unwanted calls are blocked. Try it, you can quit at any time. I expect you’ll keep it.
Your robots can hear?
Weird.

Why would you want to block it? I’ve paid good money for that robo dialer!
Hey man, my telemarketing team worked hard to call you at every dinner time and sell you solar panels, Viagra and adult magazine subscriptions. That’s rude of you.
“Hello, this is Vishn-uh, Brian, from Weendows. Eeets about your computer ?”
We have used it for about a year. Love it.
Um, which adult magazines? Do you have sales? :-)
I switched to Ooma some number of years back, and couldn’t be happier with it. It’s an VoIP service, and you still pay Federal taxes on your line ($5.00 +/- per month). I also pay annually for their “Premium” service (works out to something like $10 or $12 per month), which includes 2 junk-call blocking services. One allows you to identify up to 100 numbers to be blocked. The other is a community-based (or crowd-sourced) blocking service (a lot like Nomorobo, referenced above), and where widely known robo-call numbers are automatically blocked.
With Ooma, you have the option of automatically routing them to voicemail; playing an outbound “no robo calls allowed” message and then a hang-up; or just drop them immediately. I chose to route them immediately to voice-mail, but rarely is one ever left.
I have a Panasonic KX-TG6841 telephone. It will store 250 unwanted phone numbers. When they call a second time, the phone disconnects them automatically. I love it.
Yes, we do. Give me your phone number and ‘ll make sure they call you ;P and it better not be 8675309...
Followed directions to nomorobo but it won’t take. Hmmmm. I keep trying. Darn.
Nomorobo is a godsend. When a robocall does come in, the phone doesn’t ring a second time. It seems that after a few months, the callers may have “learned” my number and they started leaving it alone more. I love the service. And it’s FREE!!! Sure glad I have it before the election season.
