Former Trump support explains to Ted Cruz why he no longer supports Trump
Ted Cruz was talking with a former Trump supporter in Iowa who said that one of the reasons he stopped supporting Trump is because he dissed Iowans:
Sounds like Trump's lashing out at Iowans back when they put Carson at the top of the polls had an unintended effect, that some of his supporters would leave him and move on to support Ted Cruz who is now virtually tied with Trump for the top spot in Iowa.
Well I gotta say that I personally love that strategy.

As a Cruz supporter, I can confidently say that the Trump camp can find a former Cruz supporter to quote with good reasons for his move.
This is noise.
Focus on fundamentals, and let the chips continue to fall where they may.
I like Trump, but he went down several notches in the area of character with me when he mocked the handicapped reporter. That is the kind of stuff that is expected from a school yard bully, but not from a President. It was callous, mean, and completely uncalled for.

IMO, he was stomping on political correctness. That's not insignificant these days. He's refusing to be caught up in the Left's nightmare world of word and shaming control.
War is ugly. Trump's at war, because the the Left's at war and Trump knows it. The Left fights by saying "peace, love" and shooting at you. Trump is doing it right back to them, and it enrages them.
And his denial of doing this is not believable.

Prove to me that Trump new the reporter was handicapped.
Trump lost me with name calling and whining. I figure he will get to others. But others like Hillary supporters do not care. He is their idiot to the end.
Honestly - if “dissing Iowans” is the reason this guy stopped supporting Trump, then this guy has no principles. His personal pique over being offended means more than closing the border, etc.?

Show me in the millions of hours of trump tape where he ever made those hand signs before, totally obvious. Then he lied. Which is what trump does. Seems he learned a lot from the clintons.
His campaign has way too much drama, 24/7. It wore me out.

Contained in this disconnect, is another related dimension. Trump’s supporters tend to view the current situation as dire and near the point of no return. For them, opposing a candidate because he engages in Twitter battles is akin to fretting about the arrangement of deck chairs on the Titanic. For many Trump supporters, our dire situation requires extraordinary measures, not appeals to the sanctity of the system that got us here in the first place.
Folks like you are - literally - more concerned about making sure the forks at the tea party are properly arranged than you are that Julio the lawn guy is in the process of setting the house on fire.
Golly, it doesn’t seem to bother people when the media mocks and attacks Trump 24/7. You have been and are a solid Cruz supporter, so, I don’t believe he was ever high in your estimation anyway. For the record, I started out as a Cruz supporter, and when he went to the border to pass out teddy bears and soccer balls - he went down in my book. Contrast that to Trump meeting with the victims’s families who lost loved ones at the hands of illegals. Which is the greater deed? I am not sure he was mocking that reporter, and it doesn’t make any difference - that reporter is a scumbag anyway.
