Suspected burglar stuck in Huron home’s chimney dies after residents light fire

A man who apparently got stuck in the chimney of a Huron home during a botched burglary attempt died Saturday after the homeowners lit a fire in the fireplace, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.

I’ve lived a lot of places, many with fireplaces and chimneys. Never had one big enough for a large raccoon to get down, let alone a human. Are those really that common?

I can’t imagine what that would be like to find out someone was not only stuck in your chimney, but died there as well.

And that the homeowner likely killed him from all the smoke. He'll have nightmares forever. Now they have to deal with the insurance to rebuild the fireplace and the new bricks won't match so they'll always be reminded. And not to mention if they sell the price will have to be dropped and they'll have to disclose crime in the neighborhood and the death.

But the big problem is how is Santa going to deliver the presents this year?
