I currently have netflix for both dvds and streaming. Streaming doesn't seem to have alot of choices. Was thinking about signing up for Amazon Prime. I currently get my kindle books and vitamins there.
Anyone here have input on the diff between AP and NF and if one is better than the other?

I have both.
Got rid of the DVD option as I wanted to save a little money. Between them there is plenty of viewing options.
Plus, the free shipping for books, clothing etc and music downloads from Amazon is very good.
Amazon also has movie titles at discounted rates for people with Prime membership. But always double check Netflix for the same title as on occasion Netflix has the title for free.
I’ve not used Hulu.
Only a few months ago did I figure out that many networks have many of their programs available directly from their own web sites. NBC as an example.
I pay far too much for internet access and have no interest in buying a TV and cable access.
If you want movies, Google Play is your thing. Many of the "free" stuff on Prime you can already watch on that network's website.
That said, Prime isn't bad, it's great if you order a lot of things off of Amazon, and I did order the "Cougartown" series off of Prime because it was nowhere else.
I have both. Don’t find much on either BUT Prime is really good for shipping and other deals so that makes it worthwhile.
Netflix has the former A&E show LONGMIRE that both mrs p6 and I love. That and the kids movies when the grand kids are here makes it well worthwhile for us too.
We have a fairly fast internet connection, Xfinity top level, 100+mbs, and that helps A LOT! It is expensive, $180/month, but we’re old and don’t go out much. Mrs p6 uses the DVR service quite a bit since she is still working.
It's all streaming. If you want the DVDs, you have to pay for them outright.

Both Netflix and Amazon stream.
I have both, and I’m happy with the combo.
Amazon prime has great deals on DVD’s too. I purchased two recent scifi flicks for my collection for less than $10 with free two day shipping included.
Amazon prime seems to me the better choice, especially if you do a lot of online shopping.
Amazon prime comes with a great music selection as well if you use digital streaming.
Amazon is just now delving into the original content game, but they have some great titles from the BBC in their library in addition to old shows, lots of movies, and access to pay per play newer movies.
no new releases stream on netflix; you have to get those mailed to you. can you get new releases to stream on amazon? if so, it sounds like you still have to pay more even though you’ve already paid the $79for prime
Amazon Prime used to be pretty good. Now it seems that easily 90% of the movies I want to watch on Prime cost me $2.99 or more anyhow.
Not worth it anymore.
Longmire is WONDERFUL! The only thing I am not crazy about since the move to Netflix is the release of an entire season at once, LOL! I have stopped watching after about the third episode this year so I can make it last. Mrs p6 binged.

I started AP a couple of months ago and have had Netflix streaming for several years.
AP is adding to its collection. It recently added a bunch of silent movies from the early 1900s.
Both services are developing their own comedies and dramas. Some are good, some are crap — sort of like regular TV.

For the price, compared to other venues (cable/premium), both services are worth it. I tend to keep around a 100 titles in my queues that I can watch, depending on my viewing mood.
Also, AP gives you access to their vast music and ebook libraries.
I recommend Amazon Prime because the streaming is compatible with my Kindle Fire HD 7 which I use every day for reading books, checking and sending email, accessing news and weather sites, taking photos and posting them online, buying from Amazon, occasionally playing games, and watching TV shows and films. I’m satisfied with the selection they offer but remember, the newest films and TV shows are rarely free. Three seasons of The Vikings and many PBS shows like Downton Abbey are free after a few months after broadcast.
I sometimes watch two to three episodes a night and can finish off an entire TV series in about a week! lol
What about all the great science, nature, and history, documentaries?

Nothing like those iffy ‘link sites’. No pop-ups, no ads, it’s a labor of love.
Well categorized, easy to find what or who you want.
Netflix is better arranged, but Amazon is a better deal.
Amazon has HBO shows that are a couple seasons old and their music streaming is quite good, you’d be surprised at the albums they have for steaming.
I don’t have the time or patience for watching many movies, so I dropped Netflix and kept Amazon.
