Nancy Sinatra Bang Bang
I was five and he was six We rode on horses made of sticks He wore black and I wore white He would always win the fight
Bang bang, he shot me down Bang bang, I hit the ground Bang bang, that awful sound Bang bang, my baby shot me down.
Seasons came and changed the time When I grew up, I called him mine He would always laugh and say Remember when we used to play?
Bang bang, I shot you down Bang bang, you hit the ground Bang bang, that awful sound Bang bang, I used to shoot you down.
Music played, and people sang Just for me, the church bells rang.
Now he's gone, I don't know why And 'til this day, sometimes I cry He didn't even say goodbye He didn't take the time to lie.
Bang bang, he shot me down Bang bang, I hit the ground Bang bang, that awful sound Bang bang, my baby shot me down...

The tremolo guitar makes Nancy Sinatra’s version (as heard on the sound track of Kill Bill) the best.
Lol! No.
The weird guitar reminded me of that dopey Star Trek episode. Anyway, that blond woman in the pic is chubby. Nancy was thin.
Almost 50 million views...wow
and my all time favorite:
Nancy Sinatra...Sugar Town

Everytime I hear that song, it reminds me of my childhood episode back in the late 60’s, when me and my father went to Sears at night and it was Christmas. The whole place was decked out in lights and a whole department filled with Trees and Christmas decorations. We got in the car to leave back home, and as a child I turned around to view the whole building lighted up with pretty colors, and this song came on the radio. So for me Sugar Town = Candy Canes, etc. LOL
It was Summer Wine. I always think it’s Strawberry—probably since she sings that strawberry is an ingredient in her summer wine!
That was a hit for Cher
Did you reply to my post 40 by mistake?
For some reason, Nancy Sinatra reminds me of Nancy Pelosi, daughters whose fathers enabled their careers, tho Pelosi became more powerful eventually than her father and/or brother.
Sorry I disagree (just my opinion of course) but the Sinatra version is haunting, soulful, and passionate. Cher...isn’t any of those things.
You Only Live Twice (or YOLT, as the kids don’t say) was another good one. I actually like the Mantovani version of that one. It’s got a really cool percussive sound not found on other versions.

YOLT—yes, that was nice, Rastus.
Thanks for sharing.
No need to apologize for having a different opinion.
After a 2nd listen, I actually don’t like Nancy’s version at all.
Here’s a version by the lunatic Lady Gaga:

Listening to Nancy’s recordings from so many years ago makes me realize how good her diction was.
Every word was crystal clear.
Nowadays, even with all the advanced recording technology available most current pop singers are not understandable.
Yuck!Give me Nancy any day!!
Here’s another vid of Cher’s version with her actually singing in it, or pretending to sing. The audio is old and scratchy. In any case, she was pretty cute back in those days.

Nancy was one of the very worst singers I even had the privelege to block out with fingers in my ears. Horrible voice.
Horribly short range. Embarassing that she was called a singer.
Thanks! Dino (Dean Martin) was the best! Everything he did was great. Singing, westerns, comedy. She looked great in this vid too. As for her “singing”...
Great eye candy though.
