Greeting Gardeners. It is a great day here in Missouri. The sun is shining and the temperature is a blamy 64 degrees. I have not been able to take advantage of the weather, however, because of a back log of work related to my volunteer activities this time of the year.

Taking a well - needed break to post the thread is a welcome respite from the tedium of reading two reams of policies and procedures. I'll be taking off shortly to run some errands, so at least I'll get some fresh air while downtown.

After Thanksgiving, I'll be ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, so I'm praying for another day like today - then! LOL

Nothing new on the gardening front, due to the aforementioned activities, and cleaning up for Thanksgiving. Hope everyone is doing well. Prayers up for everyone. Have a great weekend. God Bless.

Pinging the list. Happy Turkey day everyone - I will be pinging on Black Friday, in case anyone else wants to stay home and avoid the crowds.

We’re on a long visit with family out west, but they’re getting a fairly major blizzard back home in NW Iowa today. Not surprised it got cold on you. Looks like the temps at home are going to be as low as 9 degrees tomorrow.

I didn’t get to plant my Earthboxes this year (had bought 2 more, for a total of 6), but I have enjoyed reading the threads.

Next year, we may be in the middle of a house move in the spring. So I may not get to plant until the fall season.

I am still eating swiss chard from the garden here in Massachusetts. That’s all I can report back positive today.

Very nice weather here in central Tx. aside from that 4 inches in 3 hours thing a couple of weeks back. Can't recall if I mentioned in, have been absent a couple of weeks.

Anywho lemon harvest is underway. Filled a five gallon bucket last night and picked 9 key limes today. Not bad for the first year on the key lime.

A forecast of 35 for Sunday night. Gonna be iffy with my fall tomatoes. So far I've only picked two and there are a bunch of green ones. Not that fried green tomatoes are a bad thing.

Mostly just hunkering down. Sadly Mrs. Texan was advised that the bone hasn't healed and she is being referred to another guy who probably shouldn't be licensed to drive, much less practice medicine, for a 5th surgery. I am seriously considering a consult with our vet who I have a lot more confidence in.

Seriously prayers are much appreciated.

Here on the San Fran Peninsula, we keep getting small and brief teaser storms that seem to be warning of the big El Niño everybody is yammering about, but nothing big yet. It’s been warm and I still have a smattering of roses blooming. The petunias are just about gone, but geraniums are still growing. Crape Myrtle trees are still blooming a bit as the leaves turn red and drop. Got about 75 daffodil bulbs and 75 tulip bulbs in the last couple weekends. Because we don’t get enough chill, days, we have to put the tulip bulbs in the refrigerator for six weeks. I’ll probably leave them in the ground year-round and take my chances. Forearms got a good workout digging the 150 holes for bulbs. Going to be time to prune roses, buddleia, and Tagedes Lucida (Mexican Marigold) soon.

We got a few green peppers a few days ago from the garden.
I stuffed ‘em last night with ground beef mixture, put
the extra mixture in the cast iron skillet around the
stuffed peppers. Had baked sweet potatoes with butter to
go with them. Yum.

lol, greeneyes, whenever we decide to ring the bell, the weather changes, the wind drops the temps and sometimes it rains with gusts. Hmmm.

I always give my pocket change for the year to the Salvation Army. Usually have to split it up between many days because I have a bucket of change. Probably $100.

No gardening here for a while. It is currently 18F outside here in the Colorado Rockies.

We're running out of ambition for gardening as it is prune and cleanup time here in the far northwest corner of California where El Nino is a maybe or it could hit south of Mendocino if it happens at all. The Garlic patch is looking better but the skunks are starting to dig under the rice hull mulch causing the weeds to find a place to germinate. I'm late to plant the cover crop of Common Vetch but I did do a 3" X 100' strip and it is up nicely. Don't know how big a garden we will plant next year due to our age and a more sedentary lifestyle. Oh Boy… Lady Bender just informed me to turn off the main water line serving the garden and landscaping before a freeze. The Bolete mushrooms grow in the woods near our home. Those ar Good Eats..
