1. Some other show would have moved into that theatre.
2 2. Ruth might never have gotten converted into an outfielder, so he'd be the holder of pitching records instead of hitting records.(He was that good a pitcher.)
3. The Yankees would have found another star to acquire. Possibly one of Mack's guys -- Connie was always selling players because he was always short of money.
WWI was inevitable, it would have been something else if not for the assassination of the Archduke.
What ????
What if the South had won the war?
Not according to Bluto.
He would have been assassinated in some other city.
Purportedly, there was another plot to assassinate Kennedy in Miami -- several weeks prior to the Dallas trip.
There was also word of an earlier attempt scheduled for Chicago.
I think Ruth actually did hold the record for most scoreless innings pitched by a lefty in a World Series for a very long time, decades IIRC (I’ll have to look it up). It sort of cuts short any serious discussion of who was the greatest baseball player ever in the game. Wow.
Yes, Whitey Ford broke it, I believe. (The one thing that would have pleased Babe is that the guy who broke it was a Yankee.)
I wonder if, under your alternate scenario, we might have given Keuchel and Arrieta the Babe Ruth Award last night instead of the Cy Young Award.
Of course, I think Walter Johnson was better than Cy anyway.
I would disagree...rock paper scissors... land sea air....German advantage was a heavy land army... but the channel is a mote...Germany would of need the same level of Naval and Air superiority to invade successfully across the channel as the Allies needed to invade across the channel on D-day...The German lost the very first part of that..the air superiority in the Battle of Britain ...the never even got to the Sea part of this battle .. the Royal Navy that far outclassen anything the German had or would of had... it tha same issues the US had to deal with in attacking Japan...attacking a self-sustaining Island is a military b****...it it requires not just to have a heavy land force superiority but heavy naval superiority and air superiority alone with and effective amphibious force ... any sides military force is going to face that same problems crossing the channel.... I think you would had a long stalemate...
Here’s a big, likely one I rarely see discussed. December, 1941. The Japanese bomb Pearl, and the US goes to war with them. A few days later, Hitler decides to join the pile on and declares war on the US himself.
What if Germany hadn’t declared war? The US populace was mad as hell at Japan, and wanted it to be our top war priority. Yea, we’d have likely ended up at war with Hitler eventually, but what if Adolph kept his cool and declared strict neutrality (maybe even offering some back channel intelligence help to the US)?
Considering the lack of American History education in our schools today, it is up to those of us who remember Dec. 7, 1941 to be sure it is never treated as a joke. Good men died that day.
Add to that the finality of the air war over England. Without control of the air, Hitler’s dreams of invading England were finished.
My own memory takes issue with Bluto.
Just another example of joking about things that shouldn’t be joked about. Young people get confused. Patriotism is on the decline which is the aim of the New World Order.
There’s a lot of questions as to how much Hitler really wanted to invade England, Von Ribbentrop definitely wanted to invade....but the suggestion was that simply neutralizing Britain was good enough for Hitler, he figured once he won in Russia, the Brits would sue for peace.
It was a movie that only people, 50 and over would get the reference to. Lighten up.
I looked it up. 1978. Damn, I’m old...
They are being taught that this country was founded by old racist white guys. I will not say more. It's sad, but predictable when the left took over the educational system some 30 plus years ago.
Me too! :) In fact my mother banned me from seeing it when it came out.
