I think Ruth actually did hold the record for most scoreless innings pitched by a lefty in a World Series for a very long time, decades IIRC (I’ll have to look it up). It sort of cuts short any serious discussion of who was the greatest baseball player ever in the game. Wow.

Yes, Whitey Ford broke it, I believe. (The one thing that would have pleased Babe is that the guy who broke it was a Yankee.)

I wonder if, under your alternate scenario, we might have given Keuchel and Arrieta the Babe Ruth Award last night instead of the Cy Young Award.

Of course, I think Walter Johnson was better than Cy anyway.
