There are two views on this legal issue. It does us no good to wish it wasn’t so. It is my view that Cruz needs to get this out of the way with SCOTUS as soon as possible. Many of us , me included , were quite sure of obama’s ineligibility because of his birth off US soil, in Kenya. The issue is not that Cruz’s citizenship . That is a given. The framers added a special clause that one did not have to be just a citizen but a “Natural Born” citizen and I don’t think they were talking Cesarean section. What did they mean? Many scholars believe “natural Born meant ‘Born here” because there was expressed concern about a Foreign take over by one in “sheep’s clothing” i.e. citizenship from outside the soil of our country.
We all know this is coming from Hillary if he emerges. If he doesn’t get this resolved it will inhibit his selection even as vice president. I wish it wasn’t so but this must be resolved quickly by SCOTUS. We cannot wait. I hope he wins this legal fight. He is a great leader.
Any Federal Court ruling would suffice to put this to bed.
Absent that, there will always be those who claim he's an usurper.
The most common sense definition of a “natural born” citizen is one who is a citizen by virtue of birth - in other words, no additional steps are necessary for the person to become a citizen. Since Cruz was a US citizen at birth by virtue of being born to a woman who is a US citizen, that would seem to qualify him.
Regardless, I doubt that any of the people raising the issue would have standing to challenge this in court. That was the big problem with people wanting to challenge Obama’s eligibility - lack of standing.
Exactly! Thank You!..... I usually come back to one question on this situation. That being. Why the big issue with McCain at the time? Without question his parents were NBC? So I guess it came down to his being born on US soil/or not???
Wrong. The framers used exactly three terms. The term naturalized citizen, natural born citizen, and alien. Nothing else. There are no rules beyond that.
If you do not gain US citizenship through a naturalization process, you are natural born. There is no such thing as someone who gains citizenship by birthright, who cannot become president at the proper age.
When Cruz announced I said he needed to get the NBC settled and out of the way fast. The Rats are going to east him alive on this issue.

Please tell us the pathway by which this would be considered by the SCOTUS? Do you also think that the SCOTUS can just pull up things they want to rule on?
