Army Spc. Michael Sharkey was stationed in Hawaii when he learned that a pair of ex-cons had broken into his New Port Richey, Florida, home and claimed it as their own.
By the time Sharkey was able to return home, Julio Ortiz and Fatima Cardosa had already changed all of the locks and established residency with his address.
“They are criminals,†the soldier told local news affiliate WFLA. “I am serving my country, and they have more rights to my home than I do.â€
Legally, there was nothing Skarkey could do.
But bikers don’t always care as much about the law as they do vigilante justice.

So a “legal homeowner” can be evicted by a bank and a SWAT patrol with a court order in a matter of minutes.
But “squatters” not making payments have a “right” to stay in a home that they stole for months while the paperwork gets processed?
It sounds like someone in the sheriff or AG's office is crooked and getting paid off.
Worth repeating over and over and over......if not the above at least Arrest him and the VP for treason and just remove him from power until the election. IOW a coup.

I’ve reached the point where I have more faith in biker gangs than the local police. The police seem to have forgotten who’s paying their salary.
How can the ‘law’ be powerless? Breaking and entering. Criminal trespass. Theft of services.
Adverse Possession:
“Adverse possession is a doctrine under which a person in possession of land owned by someone else may acquire valid title to it, so long as certain common law requirements are met, and the adverse possessor is in possession for a sufficient period of time, as defined by a statute of limitations.”
This crap was used to acquire land owned by my grandparents in Texas. The squatter used the land (old family farm) for grazing for some years and then claimed ownership. Fortunately, one of the heirs was an attorney and was able to retain the mineral rights for the rest of us. We didn’t care about the grazing but the land is on the NE edge of Eagle Ford. ;>)

“Adverse possession” is an old concept/law going back to the Romans.
In Florida the time frame to take the title is 5-7 years.
There are ways to get them out, and the bikers were the proper method, the police can’t by law.
From what I understand, it is due to English Common law inherited from Britain. During the middle ages various barons and landlords kept invading and seizing each others land so it was ruled that anyone who possessed the land for a certain amount of time could claim ownership under a concept known as ‘adverse possession’, which basically meant that if you wanted to get someone off your land after being absent, you had to go through a legal process.
In England itself, ‘squatters rights’ where repealed in 2012, but it seems that in some places in the US, it hasn’t been yet.
Had a girlfriend do this. NEVER let anyone get mail at your place. A month later we had a domestic violence incident that ended with 2 bruises on her (one on the inside of each elbow from holding her arms from hitting me) and I was bleeding from at least a dozen defensive wounds. That got her out of there. Given she was half my size the cops laughed when she said I attacked her. She wanted me in jail and then she would have had a free house to live in.

WTF, I can’t believe you wasted the time to type out a complaint on this post about saying the word “karma” instead of “payback” because karma is Hindu. Are you frigging kidding me? Aren’t there more important things to complain about than saying “payback” instead of “karma”?
