And remember folks, you can't turn these updates off long-term, or you lose support -- you gotta take 'em.

Problems with the big Windows 10 Update ... PING!

You can find all the Windows Ping list threads with FR search: just search on keyword "windowspinglist".

Someone will of course point out that the above is true only for individual license users, not enterprise volume users. I wager that the vast majority of FReepers are on private computers, not enterprise domain systems.

Big businesses can delay, but not avoid eventually installing the updates.

Edge is still deficient and has features that are a step backwards from internet explorer.

BTW I excerpted this rather a lot so as to be able to put something about all three “gotchas” in the excerpt. There’s considerable additional info at the article itself in Forbes.

Apple or linux is now free to make another accurate 1984 type ad again. Too much material here to just pass up.

So far, I like Win 10. It started out slow with a problem with my WiFi network card and BSOD, but I was able to work that issue out and it has run flawlessly for 2 months.

I have no interest in going back to Win8.1 or Win7.

I installed the update on both my laptop and PC, took an hour to install on each computer. It reminded me of when I first installed Windows 10 from scratch didnt know it was going to be that kind of upgrade so I was worried I would lose everything but everything is still here..the look is the same except now you see “I’m Cortana Ask me Anything” and whenever Im away from the computer I notice this little icon that pops up near the clock that says “Location set to on” it looks like a little target symbol not sure what that is about

Problems mentioned here aside, Threshold2 is a nice upgrade to Windows 10. It fixes way more issues than the relatively minor issues listed here (although the 44% thing is disturbing).

I work for MS, and can tell you that employees run this software, includng releases that don’t ever go public, for some time before the official release, Even with all that, and the Windws Insider program, there are always problems that aren’t found until the big release. It’s in part due to the huge and diverse spectrum of 3rd-party hardware and drivers that Wndows has to be compatible with - something Apple does not have to contend with to this extent.

But As an example, Apple’s IOS 9.0 was quickly followed by an iOS 9.0.1, then a 9.0.2, and now a 9.0.3. It happens,

Problems will be fixed as fast as humanly possible without taking undue risk of introducng new and worse bugs. If you’re concerned, wait a few weeks (personally I think that’s always a good idea).

I tried to upgrade from 8.1 shortly after Windows 10 came out, but after stealing hours of my time, all it did was a rollback. Without giving a reason. I would like to try again some time but am a little anxious that it would just make another rollback…

Par for the course.

Every time I’m thinking about buying a Microsoft machine, then they do something stupid to drive me away.

Threshold 2 is deleting a number of installed programs as it upgrades... CPU-Z, speccy, 8gadgetpack, a Cisco VPN client, SATA drivers, SpyBot, RSAT, F5 VPN, HWMonitor and more.

LOL! RSAT is the Remote Server Admin Tools package provided for admins to manage Windows environments. They're removing their own tools from the system. Let this be a lesson, folks, Microsoft isn't just out to remove competition.

I went over to W10 from 7 and went back to 7 after I didn’t care for 10. Now, my W7 won’t stay in sleep or hibernation. Any ideas?

But you can delay the updates, as i did for about a week.
