This morning as we entered our church we were met by armed security guards. We also noticed a security guard in the back door. They were dress in black uniforms with a white word 'security' on their backs. We don't know how many were in the church. So I am wondering, is this a precaution to what had happened in Paris? We have several Persian Christian refugees that are members in our church and was wondering if these security officials were there for the Persian's protection? I am wondering if any others on this website witnessed the same precaution this morning at your church. Our church is the First Presbyterian Church in Seattle.
Two cops are the norm at the “mega church” we’re attending.
Nothing unusual observed.
Be thankful. And grateful.
any church security that keeps me from ccw is going to lose a parishioner.
I saw a greater visible security presence this morning at our church, too. Can’t hurt to be vigilant.
I didn’t go to church this morning because frankly I knew the sermon would be some moan and groan about Paris and how we have to keep a stiff upper lip and be “Christian.”
Screw that.
We have had armed security inside my church for quite some time.
Except I’m the only one that knows it.
;-)
No security at my church. But I go to a small country church that wouldn’t be able to afford security.
You were there why are you asking us? Go talk to your pastor, ask him, and report back. I’m curious too
move. If you can't move. Be alert.
Sadly at the church we attended this morning...NO MENTION of the atttacks..No word of prayer or anything like that..sad..
We’ve had armed security at our church for at least a couple of years. Not to mention all of those armed in the congregation ;-)
This is Texas, after all.
A lot of big churches have Security officers . . a couple I attended in Columbia, SC, had armed and uniformed security officers (the church was half Black/half White, which is also true for the city of Columbia itself. Also, my friend’s hubby is a retired State Trooper in Illinois who is now Security Officer at their big church right outside St. Louis. But if you hadn’t noticed these uniformed guards before today . . the church might have received some veiled threats of some sort.
My first thought as well.

If you are carrying concealed, how would they know? No one knows in my church when I carry. I don’t even tell my wife.
Your church may have had a specific threat.
I was one of five in my church including my preacher, he asked me and the others. Only the preacher knew who was packing. This was several years ago. My preacher left and so did I.
We have a number of CCW/CHL sorts in the pews each Sunday .....since 9/11.
... known to each other per local firing range, similar backgrounds etc.
Stay Safe Troop.
