Empty symbolism. I’ve been chronicling the war in Syria and ISIS for over a year on my FB page. From ISIS territorial gains in Iraq and Syria back in 2014 and the establishment of their caliphate to the Paris attacks and everything in between. Every drone strike that took out ISIS middle management, Russian intervention, etc.
All of my FB friends couldn’t give a damn. No likes. No discussion. It’s like I’m talking to myself. And now they put the French flag over their profile pic. Reminiscent of when they all adopted the rainbow flag during the height of SC debate over homomarriage.
So they’ll do that for a couple of days. And after all the candles are burned down, the bouquets of flowers have died, the balloons have popped and the teddy bears have been stolen they’ll change their profile pic back to normal and go back to posting their same old stupid crap.
F*** ‘em.
What do you want me to do? Fly over to Paris with a bunch of guns and hand them out? To storm the French capital with signs and slogans and get thrown into prison? I did it to honor the dead. I would hope other countries would do the same. If the situation had been reversed and the French were toting American flags, I bet no one on here would make a peep. I am not in the position to change French policies. That is for the people of that country to do.

This is as it should be. This was a horrific attack. It is good to know that people care. It’s not quite the same as the rainbows when gay marriage was made legal. Being gay and not being able to call yourself married is NOT LIKE HAVING YOUR SON BLOWN TO BITS at a rock concert. This is legit.
