Jeraldo Rivera laments private jet he chartered cannot rescue his daughter

Posted on 11/14/2015 6:50:09 AM PST by doghorse

Anybody else see a visibly upset Jeraldo lamenting that he chartered a jet to retrieve his daughter from France but the airports were closed. How crass. Hundreds of thousands trapped in France just like his "studying abroad" (Paris partying) daughter. What a true liberal. Don't ever trust them. When it comes right down to it, they are only concerned about themselves.

I understand terrors of the moment...but you can count on Whoraldo and his daughter to wallow in PERPETUAL post-traumatic stress disorder, CHRONIC victim-hood and PATHOS-FILLED quivery-whimpery baby-talk.......with instant waterworks at the ready whenever there's a TV segment or any other public opportunity to emote, garner sympathy, gain attention and milk the experience for all they can get.

Don't doubt me!

What ever happened to Americans who, after scary experiences, picked themselves up, dusted themselves off....and manned up!

(...females included, of course)

“BUY AMMO”

I have weapons and ammo. I would bet gun and ammo sales in this country are going up again after this Paris attack and our cities being on alert.

I’m embarrassed for the daughter. Sitting there in France as a “damsel in distress” waiting for daddy to come rescue her.

I don't think its critism about concern for his daughters safety... I think its because he put himself and his daughter on Fox, got hysterical, went for a special elitist solution to get her out and made an overall disgusting display of himself in the midst of an international tragedy...

I would have done the same thing. Then again, I don't get paid millions of dollars to read the news, but I should be...

Well since his daughter just turned 21, she is young enough for him to have parental influence over her, especially if he is paying. I couldn’t deal with the worry!

Anyway.

I few years ago one of my lovely daughters, a Spanish major in college, decided to study for a summer in Mexico. This was just as the cartel wars were cranking up to full force. I begged her not to go, but she went anyway and had a great time.

Yes, yes, I could have cut her off and disowned her, never to speak to her again, but I chose not to do so. And to what end would that have served?

People who suspect Rivera has 666 secretly etched on him somewhere will insist he’s a horrible person, and I suppose he is, but not for this.

Don't bother being embarrassed for her. On the phone last night, she was frightened as she had been at the stadium when the bombs went off and had finally gotten back to her room. Yes, she wanted her father to come get her. She had no way to defend herself and she would have to leave that room to get food.

Perhaps you would not have cared if your daughter was there - she would merely have been a "damsel in distress" as you say. You would let her fend for herself. I would have hired a plane just like he did and go get her which he is doing right now.

If it were my daughter I’d move the Rockies to get her home.

Me too. I can't fault him for the attempt, and I'm glad she's safe.

And you thought national TV was a proper forum to air all this family business?

Also, don't you see that you are feeding into the whole culture of "fragile snowflakes in their safe zones"? No wonder our college kids are freaking out over "micro-aggressions" and opposing viewpoints. They have been raised to be "daddy's little girls".

I am proud to say that my children were raised to be independent adults who could fend for themselves. Had they been in Manhattan on 9/11 or in France last night, they would not have been quivering blobs of jelly, hiding in a hotel room waiting for me to come rescue them. They would have gotten themselves to a safe spot, would have reached out to me to let me know everything was okay, and then they would have gotten on with their lives.

Geraldo is living proof that any useless, no-talent, braggart can make it big in America if he can learn to speak regular English and finagle an Hispanic surname or claim to be a black or brown.

Oh, he has the talent. His story on Willowbrook State School for mentally retarded children (1972) was top-notch journalism, and got him a running start in the industry. But somewhwere along the way he started believing his own press clippings...downhill from there.

We carry the same risk here when we go to a mall, a theater, a football game or anywhere else. It is just a matter of time. That risk increases as long as our borders are fluid and we bring Syrian “refugees” into this country.

In reality, we are no safer here than in Paris.

I really dislike Geraldo Rivera. He is liberal, he is stupid, and I have a particular dislike for people that post pictures of themselves half naked on a public internet. It screams obnoxious mental problems that they want to foist on others, if you know what I mean.

But if there is one thing I have heard him speak of and I felt it was his heart speaking, it was of all the friends he lost in 9/11. He was angry about it. I felt it touched him very personally, no matter if we disagree on solutions. When I heard his daughter was in the attacked stadium, I felt for him.

This is a man who posts pictures of himself half naked. I don’t think he has a sense of propriety. But I’m sure he’s concerned for his daughter. He’s just really weird when it comes to that barrier of normality between what should be private and personal.

A twenty year old American female exchange student was killed. She won’t be calling her father to come help her.

So having been rocked back on your heels by my response, you go to the straw man argument by introducing one of the victims when in fact we were only talking about Geraldo's 21-year-old daughter who is snug as a bug in her luxury Paris hotel.

Pretty lame.

Well, we should have killed his two daughters (let's call them “brats”, not daughters or human beings) when they were born as one has no right to be in Paris and afraid, or one have a job at Fox, paying for her livelihood. (major sarcastic post).

One twenty year old American girl exchange student was killed last night. She is someone’s “brat” who will never come home.

Not a Geraldo fan, but cannot agree with you on this one.

His conversation with his daughter put a very human face on this horrid situation.

If it were my daughter, I would use any asset I had to bring her home.
