Could this movie be made today? Mel Brooks doesn't think so..... Could the kids at our universities watch it without turning into quivering masses of protoplasam?

Not a chance it could be made today :) I have to pull it out and watch it once a year or so.

Slapshot is one of the greatest movies ever made.

Blazing Saddles is first and foremost, but I'm just remembering "The Jerk" and "Silver Streak"...
and would "The Cage" make it today given that Robin Williams was straight?

You do that, you go to the box, you know. Two minutes, by yourself, you know and you feel shame, you know. And then you get free.

Recently, my cousin and his wife saw a screening of this movie followed by a live Q&A session with Mel Brooks. One of the first questions referenced the "can't make that movie today" comments and asked what he left on the cutting room (as "nope, we're going too far with that" sort of content).
Apparently there was a line in the "It's twue, it's twue!" scene, where Cleavon Little says (in the pitch dark), "Madame, you are sucking on my elbow!" Mel declined to put that in the final cut.
Ironically, you could use that line these days and nobody would even blink.

A sense of perspective has been lost in our country....
A lot of the youth in ths country need to be kicked in the ass and told to suck it up....
Humor like this should be appreciated.... not reviled...

It’s not a movie, but a show like the Benny Hill show could not be made today. The Feminazi’s would go crazy. In fact, I think they were the reason it was canceled in the first place.

What a really great but totally underrated movie.
