The only thing these guys remember about the Second World War is that Hitler was the bad guy. And they think he was a Conservative.

Never mind that 99.99% of the combat troops in that war were white males, and that just about every family in the country lost one of their members—in my case, an Uncle.

If you have a really screwy idea of what the norm should be, then being “conservative” can indeed be a kind of hell.

Excellent point!

Next door neighbor is a Vietnam Vet. He called the cops on some unruly kids shooting fireworks a few months back. He told the kids the reason he doesn’t like or appreciate the noise is that it gives him flashbacks to Vietnam.

The kids (white mommy boys FWIW) response: Why did you go to Vietnam? For what?

Morons are going to stupid themselves out of existence if the Russians or Chicoms don’t come and do it first.

Many of the houses I delivered newspapers to in the 1960's had blue stars in their front windows, and some had gold.

For those who don't know, the blue meant a family member suffered a wartime service-related injury. Gold meant the family's soldier died in service.
