Telegraph.co.uk Google wants to monitor your mental health. You should welcome it into your mind Yes, you should tell the computer what you're thinking By James Kirkup 6:24PM GMT 28 Oct 2015 The use of technology to track and treat mental illness is deeply worrying but sadly necessary Next week, Dr Tom Insel leaves his post as head of the US National Institute of Mental Health, a job that made him Americaâs top mental health doctor. Dr Insel is a neuroscientist and a psychiatrist and a leading authority on both the medicine and public policies needed to deal with problems of the mind. Heâs 64 but heâs not retiring. Heâs going to work for Google. More precisely, heâs going to work for Google Life Sciences, one of the more exotic provinces of the online empire. Heâs going to investigate how technology can help diagnose and treat mental health conditions. Google doesnât just want to read your mind, it wants to fix it too. Itâs not alone. Apple, IBM and Intel are among technology companies exploring the same field. IBM this year carried out research with Columbia University that suggested computer analysis of speech patterns can more accurately predict the onset of psychosis than conventional tests involving blood samples or brain scans. **Other researchers theorise that a personâs internet search history or even shopping habits (so handily recorded by your innocuous loyalty card) can identify the first signs of mental illness. Computers can now tell when something is about to go terribly wrong in someoneâs mind. "We now live in a world where your phone might observe you to help assess your mental health." That development is striking enough in itself, but the way in which researchers like Dr Insel want to use this new technological power raises even more questions.

Sitting here wondering what I need to search next ;)
I’m going to have fun with this one.
Lots of “interesting” searches ahead for me.

Ping
passing all these things that no one knows about. scary.
They falsely assume that your search records are about you. I do a lot of research for clients and those I help in ministry so my search records are all over the map.
Then again it will be anyone who is conservative is mentally ill.

Hack into lib neighbors wifi and run google script with extremist search terms.....
Laugh as they take lib neighbors to looney bin....”
That’s a great suggestion and I would love to be able to do that.
Among the fundamental attributes of cyberspace:
Polyinstantiation: You can be in multiple locations in cyberspace at the same time. Think about your computer, your cell phone, and your tablet. Now multiply them by a large number and distribute them around the world.
Polyvalence: In cyberspace there can be multiple correct values.
Polysemes: In cyberspace the correct value can have multiple correct meanings.
Cyberspace is inherently flat: The enemy is always at zero range with a direct fire weapon.
In cyberspace, obfuscation and non-attribution eat non-repudiation for lunch; breakfast and dinner as well.
Cyber systems do not scale linearly, or even exponentially. They are nonlinear, discontinuous, and disruptive. This can be difficult for even extremely bright people to understand. However, if you “feel” rather than ‘think,” you have no chance of dealing with it.
The short version of this might be summed up as GIGO - Garbage In, Garbage Out.
Remember that this is from those wonderful folks who gave you the original “crash and burn” Obamacare websites.
Assymetry works in our favor on this one.
No, but the Right people will get a pass.
Sorta like the Hillary thang.
Quitting Googe search engines immediately.
I hate Google
Agree. Time to start searching for the most wacked sites imaginable.
Expect a sudden cessation of Google searches to be deemed suspicious activity. The authorities may have to come do a *welfare* check to make sure you're doing ok...

Hi, thanks for noting that.
I requested that my second Telegraph content post be edited down to the last 300 word excerpt.
Will do better -
Thx again
On "public" sites where I can be identified I'm a model citizen, I'm Mr. Anderson. It's only here and a few other select places that Neo comes out.
I hate Googlie too , but you'd be surprized by how many websites have Googlie syndication as a cookie on them.
So they track what sites you go to , even if you don't use googlie anyway.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
OMG! Citizen #FL1234567, you are to report to Camp 25 for a psychiatric examination, after which you will be issued striped pajamas and clogs, you will then be given a building and bed#. Some of you will require delousing and must report to the shower building. Do not worry, your government is here to take care of you.
