Thought this would be a nice thread for the weekend. Wanted to share a couple of things I am grateful for and also what puts a smile on my face. Please share your thoughts.
That pic must be out your back door or something - I snabbed another one from you of that same shoreline, but dark, and purple, with lightning flashing... Thanks for another desktop wallpaper.
“HOW did you lose 10 pounds?”
I lost it the old fashioned way. I cut down on the high calorie foods, cut down on anything served from a box or can and started drinking more water.
I now eat a lot of nuts and berries instead of chips and pretzels. Snacking is still hard, but I found that Weight Watchers ice cream snacks are actually pretty tasty. I like the salted caramel ice cream bars.
But as long as I get to see one occasionally it's ok, trees are good too.
I have a nice front/side porch and one of my daily visitors is a grey squirrel who barks at me for an English walnut. My little Tuxedo cat has become so accustomed tot he visiting raccoons that she will come and alert me if I don't hear the raccoon doorbell clang (I tied a string to the back door handle and when the Momma coon pulls the handle outside, it drops the can attached tot he string on the inside, signaling her arrival; she has taught her off-spring to do the same on occasion). The little wild visitors really do lift my spirits when they drop by. I give them the cookies from my hand and one of the boys, when he was smaller, would climb into my lap for his cookie treat. He is too big for that now (weighs around thirty to forty pounds!), but he will stand on his back feet and take the cookie from my hand. Their paws are so soft, to be something they walk everywhere on.
Last night I spent time with friends I dearly love. Before that I cooked yummy grilled burgers and made sauteed summer squash, onions and zucchini. Later I sat on my porch and looked at the lovely new moon then went for a walk with my corgi.
Nothing rare, but all brought me smiles and a grateful state of mind.
And this thread is a pleasant respite, thanks!
chickensoup has lost 13 pounds, has gone on a vacation spending time with people who mean a lot, has finished some projects, and has been happier than she has been in the past 15 years.
Life has been good and is finally getting better.

And that sums it up nicely. That’s the America I am grateful for.
Thank you. Now I have to go out and get me another guitar.
Enjoy your weekend.
My sister’s cherry pie
You too! : )
Yeah it changes every day but the autumn sunsets are the best.
Yes, A frying pan, George Foreman Grill and a Showtime Rotisserie covers everything.
We had a Geo. Foreman but grills didn’t remove for cleaning. Got a Cuisinart grill. Much better (for us).
Thank you! A very nice diversion and reality check!
... the burbling noise my coffee maker makes as it finishes perking a pot of coffee.
If you stop eating the carbs, and eat protein and fats instead, your body looks to those fats stores to burn for your daily activity energy and you lose weight. Your body goes into "ketosis" which means fat burning. You get to eat, you don't deprive yourself (except the carbs), you don't count calories, or have to pay for expensive prepackaged programs to lose weight.
Today, I had some scrambled eggs cooked in olive oil and some bacon for breakfast. For lunch, I had a ribeye steak and some grilled asparagus. By the time dinner came around, I was not hungry but had two string cheese sticks for a snack while watching TV.
I am 68 years old and two weeks ago I had my annual primary care checkup with complete blood work. My doctor was extremely pleased with my weight loss and all of my blood numbers were within normal range. My BP has come down and I feel great. I walk an hour a day every morning and feel much lighter on my feet. And BTW, my total cholesterol is 106, not what most people think it would be from eating fats.
So dump the carbs because they make your blood sugar spike and that's what makes you hungry. Burning your body fat for energy levels out your blood sugar and doesn't lead to being hungry that you mentioned. Get rid of all sugars, even the hidden ones. You have to be willing to stop eating breads, chips, crackers, potatoes, cakes, cookies, candies, fruits, corn, anything that is mostly sugar. I can eat beef, pork, chicken and fish. Eggs, cheese, and small amounts of salad type vegetables. Remember, eating fat doesn't make you fat. Eating processed carbs that convert to fat is what makes you fat. No matter what the government food pyramid says.
We all weighed a lot less when we were younger. Eating processed carbohydrates adds fat to our bodies over time and one day we wake up and wonder why we are fat. You can get rid of it many different ways but at our age it is not easy. This way of eating (zero -5 grams of carbs a day) sheds your existing weight and gives you energy to boot. Caution: Once you start eating processed carbohydrates again or too many simple carbs and sugars, you will gain the weight back. This is pretty much a change in your food lifestyle.
Good luck.
I wrote EQEasyBuzz, when I meant EQAndyBuzz. Oops!
We went over to my daughter’s tonight and my son in law grilled up a delicious pork loin, with some salad and baked beans on the side. It was delicious.
Then he lit a fire in the pit and the kids all toasted marsh mellows, telling jokes and talking.
Got to spend time with seven of my kids, and my son in law, and my grandson. What could be better?
