Thought this would be a nice thread for the weekend. Wanted to share a couple of things I am grateful for and also what puts a smile on my face. Please share your thoughts.
Went to the doctor earlier today for a follow-up appointment. My last set of labs were awful. This time a BP that was usually 150/90 came in at 120/81. Lost 10 pounds. Sleeping better, feeling better. I am extremely grateful for that.
My daughter who has undergone 6 years of mental illness came home yesterday and announced she has hit the three month point in her job. Got a great review, is very happy and she has been free of all the pills and other crap the shrinks prescribed for 1 year. I am grateful she is doing well and can only pray this is the first of many successes in her life.
You got the right idea... be thankful for what you have and the many blessings God passes right under your nose every day.
I too am extremely BLESSED, and Live my Life each day in the comfort of that. Not a particularly Religious Man, but I do give silent, personal thanks each day to Him and my Beautiful Family, who, without each, I would still be lost and confused.
Lovely idea.
I made turkey soup with our leftovers from Thanksgiving, saw my daughter, son, and grandchildren today, and am looking forward to the ball game tonight. Kansas City vs. Toronto. Go Jays!
So, is one of those George Forman grills worth investing in?

We love our GF Grill. I wouldn’t use it to cook a porterhouse, but to make fajitas, quesidillas and other small meals it works great. Easy to clean, which I am grateful for.
WAY worth it!
Enjoy every sandwich ...

Thank you for sharing.
It is a gorgeous fall day here, and almost done with the workweek. Tonight the 4 year old granddaughter will stay over, sleeping in the big bed with Grammy, since Grandpa is in CT. We will go to her soccer practice in the morning, then just hang out all day while her parents attend an all-day church function.
I am grateful the cat came home by the time I got home from work yesterday, after being out for about 14 hours, which is about his limit. He seemed quite happy to be in the house with me for the whole evening, almost “remorseful”, if a cat can be that way.
Congratulations on the improved health report, lower BP, lower weight, and feeling better.
Grateful for many things, FreeRepublic and the FRiends being among the blessings we enjoy.
Why wouldn’t you use it for a good steak? I guess it’s missing that “barbeque” flavour?
When I buy good steaks during the summer, I always use the charcoal grill. Much better than propane or gas.
Happy for your health improvements! Could use a few of my own, but I’ll get there!
VERY happy for your daughter’s good news. It’s such a worry when a child has challenges. I hope she continues to improve every day. Bless you.
The din of my children going about their lives while I am in earshot.
I don’t shave on Saturdays. On Sunday I shave with a blade in the shower before church. I feel refreshed.
After working all day in the yard, I like to relax with a beer and cook on the grill, enjoying what I have accomplished that day.
Going out for an evening with my wife of 30 years. Even if it’s just dinner, and then to the bookstore.
A nice cup of coffee on the porch before I start my day.
Going to a Cub game with my college roommates.
Reading another history book.
All of these things make me happy.
:) Happy for you.
I too am grateful... back on June 5th I survived a massive blood clot to the right lung which set off a heart attack....after that I got my act together and have lost 53 lbs.
Today was payday. I got paid again. For some reason I’m hungry for asparagus.
That makes me happy. I am grateful for the picture.
Congratulations! I guess I am jealous. Sorry. That’s being a naughty Twinkie. HOW did you lose 10 pounds? I just can’t seem to even get started, and need to lose about 20 pounds. BP meds I take make me retain fluid and keep gaining weight. Also, I get so weak I can’t go if I don’t eat at least a little bit. - Used to weigh a LOT less when I was young. Now, at 69, I hang in at over 180. Ate more then than I do now. :o(
I’m happy that I don’t have to work anymore and can spend all my time hanging around with my best friend Mr. GG2. :-)
