Full Title: Hundreds of students return to the cafeteria after Montana high school relinquishes $120,000 in federal funding and drops Michelle Obama's lunch program
The decision by officials at a high school in Montana to give up $117,000 in federal money and drop Michelle Obama's healthy lunch program has proved to be a popular and profitable success.
Business has been booming in Bozeman High School's cafeteria since its board members voted to drop the National School Lunch Program in a bid to keep students from leaving campus to eat.
The lunch program set limits on calories, fat and salt in lunches and mandated that more whole grains, fruits and vegetables should be served in order to curb the onset of childhood obesity.
Many students who weren't fans of the lunch program would leave campus to get fast food at lunch, but they've been returning now that the program is gone, the Bozeman Daily Chronicle reported.

I’d guess a lot of people have.
Say it loud and proud!
Maybe the national conservative movement should renounce funding from federal government when it includes unwanted mandates.
HUD dictates “low income housing” for example, in order to get big dollar funding.
FUMO
Common core is another Federal Offense.
Yeah. Who voted for this boondoggle? Not Our Republican Congress, surely.
Worst collection of traitors, wimps, and various other human garbage in history.
One of my favorite cafeteria foods from high school was the macaroni salad....YUM big chunks of green olives with pimentos, and cubes of cheese, with the mayo and pasta. We lived very close to the high school, so usually went home for lunch.
The old-school idea of a grandmotherly lady shelling beans and whipping up bread and cookies from scratch
= = =
This is exactly my school lunch experience. 1953 - 1966
The only menu item I was unfond of was Tomato Soup (orange, milky fluid). Added a lot of crackers.
WOW! Future capitalists rejecting the dictates of socialists? /hope
Back to your indoctrination rooms students. Thanks for allowing us replace Michelle’s mandated menu, with our GMO garbage, food from China or meximenu stuff (giving a captive audience the illusion of choice/freedom).
(M)eat the new garbage, worse than the old garbage.
The very moment that she mandated anything....the suggested school menu should haVE BEEN PUBLISHED DAILY, ALONGSIDE THE MENU OF THE SCHOOL THAT HER KIDS ATTENDED...(whoops) and the public school menu should have been the basic menu in the congressional dining hall.
Calico Wild Rice Soup
Tuna & Fresh Dill Salad
Autumn Grain Salad
MG Cod Cakes
Minestrone Ragout
Parmesan Polenta
Green Beans with Garlic
Roasted New Potatoes
Sliced Melon
We had those old school lunch ladies. OMG, you couldn't concentrate in 3rd period from the aroma of homemade yeast rolls wafting down the hallway.
My kids refuse to eat school lunch.
If it was the kind of lunch I had when I was in school, they’d probably scarf it down.
Home cooking by little old ladies in hair nets that knew how to cook!
I cook almost everything from scratch.
My kids know what good food should taste like.
I dunno - They'd probably throw poo worse than the monkeys do...
That does sound good right about now.
Obviously overweight.....I weigh 200#, am 6' tall, I married my beautiful wife in 1961 4"11" and she weighed 84#....our first child, born in 1963...weighed 9#6oz.....10% of her weight....we had 3, all big babies, all natural births...AMAZING!!!!!
Of course, I also LOVED those soybean hamburgers that they sold at the drive-in movie theaters, so there’s no accounting for taste, right?
Seriously. I think the district got x dollars from the feds for every lunch.
Turkeys! What a horrible mismanagement of freedom!
GOOD GRIEF, MAN..GIVE ME ALL THAT CHEESE THAT YOU CAN GET YOUR HANDS ON, the stuff was Great...people paid the welfare folks a decent price for their cheese....the gov't gives you 5 pounds of cheese, I will give you enough money for that cheese to allow you to smoke cigarettes for the week....worked GREAT.
