The heart of the matter for a conservative is liberty. Don’t steal mine to satisfy yours.
Lol...heard Trump respond to this line of thought the other day...he basically said "I'm leading significantly in every poll I don't NEED to spend money just for the sake of spending money. I'm a businessman I'm begin wise with my money. You guys (reporters) should be commending me for being able to achieve so much by spending so little that's the way it works in the real world."
OK, you stated your case clearly. The result, I like you better and Trump no less.
Don't forget the social conservative Trump...doesn't drink or do drugs. Publicly states he's a Christian. He stood with a bunch of black pastors the other day who said they are convinced he's genuine and told the story of how he came to them during the last election cycle and wanted them to pray for him if he decided to run. They were disappointed that he didn't run last time and are all in this time...
Don’t forget the social conservative Trump...doesn’t drink or do drugs.
I can't think of too many world leaders of historical significance who had perfect lives. If you're seriously looking for a Pope or a Saint for President, you're never going to find one. I'd rather have Trump than a "moral" candidate who is pro-amnesty and who is going to screw us over on TPP.
Shirley you jest. They would be asking Him to explain his prior, Old Testament positions.
Also, you fall into very bad company by using the insulting term "trophy wife." By what measure do you seek to demean Trump's wife? It hardly disparages Trump that he marries brains & beauty. Your reference to a young woman having brains & beauty as a "trophy" is gratuitously insulting--and uncalled for, even if you oppose her husband.
I do not recall, off hand, if Washington ever read Adam Smith. But the whole basis for what makes the free economy out perform every other is individual responsibility. And Washington showed very clearly that he understood the underlying concept, and applied it in many ways. One of the most obvious was in his urging that we adopt the Swiss system of arming and training the teenaged boys in the use of military grade firearms. (He explained the psychological benefits to the boys, in terms of the same responsibility building traits that have always driven the free market.)
And while on the subject of Tariffs, which I as a Jeffersonian prefer to limit largely to the purpose of funding the proper Governmental services: So far as taxes impacting economic growth, it is not clear that a reasonable tariff has a greater negative impact than graduated personal income taxes (properly forbidden in Article I, Section 9, of the Constitution.)
The Tariff after all has the side effect of encouraging local enterprise; the graduated tax on income, attacks the level of success of local enterprise. It is not a hard call, which is more beneficial to the American free market.
Be careful that you do not fall into the same logical trap, in applauding what passes for contemporary wisdom, as the Courtiers praising the Emperor's New Clothes.
It is amazing all of these people clamoring for Trump to spend untold Millions on his campaign.
I admire the fact he knows down to the penny what he is spending. He has a Budget meeting every Monday morning to go over what the expenditures will be for the coming week. He has only about 5 people on his payroll, compared to say Hillary who has over 300.
He has managed to leverage his Celebrity to the point that he getting all the publicity he wants to campaign. He is using all of the Free Polling to his advantage.
He has been able to run a major Presidential Campaign on a shoe string budget and all of his rivals are jealous.
That alone should get people’s attention in that he is careful with his money and maybe he will be careful with taxpayer money also.
There is a lot to admire here as to how he is running his campaign in contrast to how all the others are.
Another conservative for eminent domain?
Reagan divorced once and remained happily married thereafter. It’s a disgusting comparison. There is no ‘purity’ test for American politicians, just an impurity test. Trump’s serial trophy wifism disparages them, not I.
As for marrying brains and beauty only one is obvious in Trump’s decisions.
Let’s just fund the proper government areas per the Constitution, but tariffs don’t do that. Instead the tariff is most like our current income tax. It punishes via exception and benefits politicians who play ball with plutocrats or would be plutocrats.
Take a look at the ‘benefits’ of the sugar tariff to Americans. I don’t accept that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
Scream! So funny.....
