CHICAGO (CBS) Well ahead of Wednesday nights wild-card game between the Cubs and Pirates, Chicago fans began partying in the River North neighborhood.
Even before the sun rose, Cubs fans converged on Harry Carays Italian Steakhouse to show their support for the team; among them were Cubs Hall of Fame second baseman Ryne Sandberg and Carays widow, Dutchie.
What would late Cubs broadcaster Harry Caray have said about the teams first playoff run since 2008?
Holy Cow! Dutchie said with a laugh.

“Cubs Win World Series”
Back to the Future 2 (set in 2015)
Cubs fans are the best
You can’t drink all day if you don’t start in the morning.
I hope they won't sacrifice one of their own again if their hopes are dashed.
Arrieta is a force of nature and I like their wild card chances.
Should be high quality baseball.
Wish my dad was here. He passed last June. He waited his entire adult life for the WS title. He sure would have enjoyed this season! Go Cubbies!
Yep, only 107 years since the last World Series title for the Cubs.
Some small trivia, the Cubs are one of only a handful of National League teams to win consecutive World Series. But their historic feat happened in 1907 and 1908, before all of our times here..............
Post of the day...and a great tag line, too!
Cubs 3-0 bottom of 3rd.
I’ve had that tag line for years, you are the first to comment upon it.
Go Cubs!
Glad to see the Cubs win...but as a lifelong Cardinal fan,......Go CARDS!
That Bartman thing was blown out of proportion by local and national media. No one with a functioning brain blamed him for the loss within 24 hours of the game. I listen to a lot of sports talk and the calls to the stations at the time bore that out.
There are Cubs fans still bragging a decade later how they tried to assault him at the game and were only foiled by security.
You have Scott Turow still blaming him publicly.
The guy had to go into hiding.
Even the baseball in question was bizarrely fetishized.
All in all a very poor showing - though I'm certain you're right, that most people came to their senses after a few days.
The Cubs themselves played a very nice game against a very good team last night.
The Cardinals should be worried.
There are always people making claims. Guarantee 99% of the people who insist they almost got to beat up Bartman weren’t even at the game, heck half of them probably weren’t even in Illinois, probably a quarter weren’t even watching on TV.
Scott Turow talks a lot, it’s his job. And talking calm measured responses doesn’t sell books.
The guy DECIDED to go into hiding.
Sports fetishizes a lot of stuff. Especially baseball. And if you happen to have an FX guy hanging around might as well blow something up.
The noise makers get the press. Nobody interviews the majority of people who move on.
I did see CH. Quite well done. But there are moronic fans of every team. Do you not think the Mets have fans among their number who would behave that way?
Arrieta could be this year’s Bumgarner.
What’s with the Muslim beards on Arrieta and Keuchel? Are we mainstreaming Muslim culture now?
I have read many Scott Turow’s books. A good writer!
I think it started with Brian Wilson.
I don't think Kerry Collins would encourage them.
