Trump’s Tax Plan
Wall Street Journal ^ | Sept. 29, 2015 7:21 a.m. ET | James Freeman

Donald Trump describes his tax plan in a Journal op-ed, promising “four brackets: 0%, 10%, 20% and 25%. This new code eliminates the marriage penalty and the alternative minimum tax while providing the lowest tax rates since before World War II.” Mr. Trump adds that “this plan eliminates the death tax.” Also, he intends to “allow the middle class to keep most of their deductions while eliminating many of the deductions for the very rich.” And on the corporate side, “any business of any size will pay no more than 15% of its business income in taxes.”

Sorry this article is pretty short.

Only the first paragraph appears to be about this topic. Just posting a link, for discussion.

I’m always concerned that the offsets never seem to bring in nearly as much revenue as projected.

and we have to hold the senate and house to slash the budget.

The one thing which needs to be considered.

Trump says he will bring back American jobs.

If he does this, it will bring back revenue and make America once again rich.

I don’t know if what he’s saying is true, but he sure seems more credible on this subject (and many others) than anyone else out there.

Bring back American jobs.

Any of the others posted any of their plans yet? - Silence.

I like the "I win" tax form.

The core reason America has lost jobs is because of our stupid income tax. Under this Stupid Tax American producers and American productivity are burdened and punished, while foreign producers are advantaged, both in the world market and within our own.

Trump’s “plan” keeps the Stupid Tax, and the IRS, fully in place.

He may say he wants to make the cow pie flatter, but it’s still a cow pie.

Trump took the economic high ground early. The others are in a tizzy and don’t know what to do.

I completely disagree.

Who do you support, and what is their plan?

Thanks.

Having a real manufacturing sector would be huge.

Until 20 years from now when you can make whatever you need at home with a 3D printer :)

but we’ll worry about that then lol

I don’t support any of them, for various reasons of principles and policy.

But the closest any of them have come to my own views on taxation is Huckabee, who has been a supporter of the FairTax plan for many years.

And, whether you like it or not, or will admit it or not, the FairTax plan is a fully-orbed, well-thought out plan, one that has had the support of many thinking conservatives for a long, long time. (You know, that long period of time when Trump has promoted and supported leftwing socialist policies.)

So you can quit pretending now that no one on the face of the planet stands for anything except Donald Trump.

Yep, we want to make sure that the government keeps on growing. Not one penny less for Washington.

So what is the fairtax plan?

How does it differ from Trump’s?

And where is Huckabee, on bringing back American jobs?

Thanks.

Politics is the art of the possible.

The federal income tax is not getting eliminated in Trump’s and probably your and my lifetimes.

Although the plan has merit, it will not be the net that drags in revenue for all of the tax cheats out there.

Remember: The system is based upon WHAT YOU TELL THE GOVERNMENT what your income was. If you don’t tell them, they won’t know. Whores, criminals, drug dealers, illegals and a whole host of parasites upon the honest tax-paying citizens simply are invisible to the tax system.

The only fair tax is a tax based upon consumption. Every state has one and it’s called a sales tax. EVERYONE pays it when they purchase something. Resellers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, and a host of other businesses that make or sell products already collect that tax for the state.

Better yet, the taxing agencies ARE ALREADY IN PLACE in each state’s tax collection system. It can be done overnight!

No.....that ain’t gonna happen because it would put millions of people whose jobs exist due to the outrageous and complicated tax system we now have.

Individuals would be free of all record keeping requirements and better yet, would finally be back under the protection granted under the Constitution of “self-incrimination” demanded by the laws of our Internal Revenue Service.......”you are guilty until you prove yourself innocent.” Along with that you don’t have to disclose information under duress as the IRS now does.

If conservatives would only return to core principles, almost anything would become possible.

The FairTax plan is a national retail sales tax that completely replaces the Stupid Tax, lock, stock and barrel. Instead of burdening productivity, capital, capital formation, and labor, it burdens only consumption.

Trump’s plan leaves the entire Stupid Tax apparatus, including the IRS gestapo, fully in place.
