Donald Trump describes his tax plan in a Journal op-ed, promising four brackets: 0%, 10%, 20% and 25%. This new code eliminates the marriage penalty and the alternative minimum tax while providing the lowest tax rates since before World War II. Mr. Trump adds that this plan eliminates the death tax. Also, he intends to allow the middle class to keep most of their deductions while eliminating many of the deductions for the very rich. And on the corporate side, any business of any size will pay no more than 15% of its business income in taxes.

The current income tax system in this country is the largest and most sophisticated game of divide and conquer ever devised by man. Different groups of Americans are over and over again played off against each other by our politicians, with tax system payoffs or punishments.
Under a decent consumption based tax system there would be one tax, one rate, one set of taxed products and services.
The only political argument left to fight over would be the rate.
And finally, all Americans would be united in one self-interest: to make the rate lower.
And the only way to get the rate lower is to cut spending.
That’s the sort of built in political pressure for change that we need.
Moving the deck chairs around on the Titantic some more gets us nowhere.
I hope Trump gets back to talking about the benefits of the wall... and the risks involved in having no wall.
Four months until the first vote is cast—I think he’ll have time to get back to it.
I think he knows that that’s what really resonates with people. (And the other parts of his immigration plan are probably as important as the wall, too.)
I’m sure you’re right.
easy! one out of five federal workers spends the day working for the union!!! that’s 20 percent right there.
get rid of the guys looking at porn all day, that’s another 20 percent.
I have been to the Un-Fair Tax website. Where does it say that?
Does that also apply to vehicles? New only? So I buy a new car for $30,000 and pay sales tax, Fed & State combined of 36.5% for a total of$10,950. BS to that! I don't pay that much in Fed Income Tax now.
You Un-Fair Tax guys are obviously smoking some of that funny stuff!
And by the way, I see this is supposed to pay into FICA too, so even though through my working life I paid the 7.65% or so, and that was matched by my employer, I have to pay it again in retirement! What a crock of smelly stuff you are promoting!
What about it?
It is not the FairTax!
Trump should know better than to promote a tax plan that keeps the IRS alive!
FairTax kills the IRS!
Help us replace the income tax with the FairTax and abolish the IRS!
PS, EV, you KNEW I’d say all that!
Of course!
