Are there other brands of bleach?

Yes, certainly. Just there have not been any in the past with the assurance of continuing quality and ubiquitous availability that Clorox™ had offered. It was one we could rely on to know that the starting concentration was 7%.

Here is a manufacturer that makes pure according to MSDS

That MSDS seems to say the concentration is 12.5% of Pure Chlor, so the formula to make the Dakin's solution would need to change.

My calculation shows you'd need a 36 to 1 solution to get the same concentration that Clorox's 7% would provide at 20 to 1.

I do NOT know if this would work:

Great Value Bleach (WalMart generic brand) Lists only Water and Sodium Hypochrorite as ingredients, but at what they call a 33% higher concentration.

The only problem with store brands is they will switch providers like some people change underwear. . . but (if they insist on keeping the same quality and concentration, it should be OK, as long as it's pure. Looking at the MSDS for their Bleach it is not pure pure, because it has a greater than 1% Sodium Hyrdoxide, a Laundry additive. In addition, the concentration of Sodium Hypochlorite is only listed as somewhere between 6-9%, which is too wide a range to accurately dilute properly. This is the problem with store brands. . .

What’s the deal with ozone gel? Does it work or is it hokum?

We've seen Ozonated Oil work wonders on intransigent wounds and ulcers. The gel is just the oil that has been ozonated with medical grade oxygen which has been, shall we say, electrified, for days until it gels, as I understand it.

Ozone is not hokum. The use of Ozone to treat and actually cure Ebola is being published a peer reviewed scientific journal this month. The following is a quotation forwarded to me from our primary implant doctor:

"Received this quick note from Dr. Robert Rowen who went with Dr. Howard Robins to Sierra Leone to demonstrate treatments of Ebola using intravenous ozone gas application.

The few cases they were able to treat responded remarkably well, and several docs who had accidentally had needle-stick injuries also evidently treated themselves by drinking ozonated water and also did not experience symptoms.

regards
Dr. Wiliam Domb

"I have received confirmation that the results of our mission to Sierra Leone (4 Ebola cures) will be published by a fully indexed infectious disease journal and will be announced online next month. The treatment was DIV ozone. I will let you all know as soon as it is announced.
This is the culmination of my oxidation career. I could not be more ecstatic.
Regards,
R

What does brushing your teeth with bleach do, it dangerous and how do you do it?

You do not "brush" your teeth with bleach, use baking soda to brush your teeth. . . then once or twice a week rinse and gargle with a diluted solution of 0.35% of bleach which will kill any remaining bacteria in your mouth that the baking soda did not kill. Baking soda has a five second kill time on bacteria, bleach has a two second kill time and will also dissolve any dental plaque under which bacteria live. The bleach will kill any "super" bugs that develop immunities to other means of killing them. Normal toothpaste does not kill bacteria to any great degree. Baking soda does. . . especially Oral Spirochetes, the really nasty ones.

how about pool shock?

I wouldn't trust what's in that. . . it would be TOO strong.

Chlorine Bleach. Ugh. - Instead, I order food grade hydrogen peroxide and mix it with distilled water until it’s a 3% solution. Use it for a spray in kitchen & bathroom. The drug store stuff puts sores in my mouth, so I order food grade concentrate on ebay. - You have to be careful handling it when mixing. - I sploshed a teeny blop of the concentrate on my leg & it ate a hole in my shin. - Just say “NO” to chlorine bleach, though. To me, that stuff is horrible & stops up my nose.

No, Twinkie. This subject has been studied quite well. Hydrogen Peroxide does NOT kill oral spirochetes, the bacteria that cause the diseases we were most interested in stopping. Short of bopping them individually on the head with a hammer, this is about the only way to do it.

Our office bought a $15,000 Phase Contrast microscope to even be able to see these nasty bugs alive, without having to stain the dead ones, and trust me, after treating patients with Hydrogen Peroxide, they were unfazed! Hydrogen Peroxide would kill amoebas, and other types of some bacteria, but spirochetes swam right through it. Same for straight alcohol or antibiotics, they curl up into balls called the "spore" form and then open back up after the antibiotics had dissipated. We've seen millions of spirochetes in people's mouths. . . both before and after using hydrogen peroxide.

However, when the Sodium Hypochlorite bleach solution was used, the spirochetes were all dead. . . just minutes afterward. With a continued protocol of using Baking Soda for several days killed the vast majority of them. . . but not all. The bleach rinse and gargle cleaned out the rest.

You really do not know what you are talking about. Anecdotal stories are not data. . . Your Hydrogen Peroxide is far more dangerous than the bleach. The bleach is easy to mix. Try to pay attention, Twinkie. The Dakin's Solution tastes like somewhat strong swimming pool water.

It’s much better to brush with 3% hydrogen peroxide!

Are you going to listen to peer-reviewed scientifically tested information or anecdotal stories? You are wrong. Some Bacteria love hydrogen Peroxide because the like the oxygen it puts out. Sorry. It does not kill everything, especially the Oral Spirochetes, which are the worst offenders in the mouth. This has been studied in depth.

By regulation all product specific MSDS have to be generated by the manufacturer. BTW the UN has a program that is being implemented in the US to convert MSDS form to SDs which is more like Europe “harmonized” and has a different rating system. It is an “SDS”.

Unfortunately, the SDS system is about the chemical, not the product. It does NOT tell anything about the specific concentration in THAT product. Look at the comparison. For example, the SDS for Sodium Hypochlorite will be for a range between 5% and 14%, while a proper MSDS will tell you exactly what is in that product's mix of ingredients. With the European standard you will get multiple SDS for each ingredient, but no information on any of those ingredients' concentrations in that product. Whoopee. That's what I am finding with the Clorox SDS page. You get multiple pages of SDSs for each product, with lots of extraneous safety information, what emergency personnel need to know, etc., but nothing about concentrations in what you've got in your hand.

If it is any help, look at the ingredients of “pool shock” commonly sold at Walmart to kill bacteria in backyard pool water. It is about 50% sodium hypochlorite. The issue is that they don’t really say what the other 50% is.

Listed on the MSDS as "Trade Secret" . . . LOL!

Importantly, some added benefit comes from mixing powdered baking soda with table salt, which was the popular combination for brushing teeth prior to toothpaste.

No, there is no added benefit is seen by adding table salt to the baking soda. That's an old wives tale. Trust me on this, it's been tested in laboratory settings. The thinking was that the salt grit helped clean the teeth by grinding the plaque off. . . but it doesn't. The plaque is harder than the salt. Sorry.

The Baking Soda will kill the bacteria that can be causing sore throat problems and soothe the throat too. . . salt will exacerbate any raw flesh from infection. It will also dissolve the phlegm build up. Baking Soda is a milder salt.

You are correct, of course about the efficacy of ozonated water. Ozone in water makes hydrogen peroxide. I buy, by the gallon, 35% and/or 50% food grade hydrogen peroxide. We dilute this as needed for any and all disinfecting needs. We soak our toothbrushes in a 10%+ solution of H2O2. We put drops in water for internal use. We wash fresh veggies with it. We add it to the horse tank water for our horses. We sometimes use it on fresh meat to kill any resident bacteria. Great stuff, and we do not have to have an ozone generator.

No, it doesn't. I assure you the medical professionals who are working with this substance are completely familiar with Hydrogen Peroxide. Ozonated water is entirely something else. Hydrogen Peroxide is NOT Ozonated water. O3 has to be outgassing from the water to be considered Ozonated.

Hydrogen Peroxide decomposes to water and Oxygen: 2H2O2 —>2H2O + O2

Note it does NOT decompose to to water and Ozone, O3.

We do have an Aranizer Air Purifier that creates O3 etc without creating oxides of nitrogen. We have been breathing this for the last 10 years or so.

That also is nowhere near what we are talking about. To do it properly, one must have a specialized piece of equipment that one used medical grade Oxygen, not air, to change to Ozone. . . and then put through the water, oil, etc. You cannot do this idly. If you use air, you will get high quantities various oxides of nitrogen, some of which are not nice substances, especially if you are going to pass the resultant gasses through water.
