Sand City, CA.
Two officers were shot in Sand City outside the Target shopping center.
It appears there were two gunmen. Shots were fired during a confrontation.
Four people were shot, including two police officers and the two suspected gunmen.
The victims were immediately sent to a nearby hospital.
According to Monterey District Attorney Dean Flippo, the two suspected gunmen are dead.
The two police officers have non-life threatening injuries and are expected to make a full recovery.
The Target store is now closed.
I know absolutely nothing about the male suspect that was pronounced dead at the scene...but the FEMALE that was with that idiot is my good friend’s cousin, Tina. I know absolutely nothing about her either. Apparently she was in the driver’s seat. It is unclear as to if she was also a shooter, or caught in the crossfire only. Either way...dead is dead. Black, white, hispanic, Swedish, scum or not scum...dead.
Target makes me irritable too.
Uhhhh, Jose and Josb, I betcha
Sounds like the officers were using proper target acquisition techniques and the two dead thugs were firing gangsta style
Oh, great.
Material for no-knock, oh-dark-thirty SWAT raids in order to prevent harm to police and bystanders - never mind their alarming propensity to get the address wrong.
Welcome aboard!
In Sand City? LOL
What an amazing coincidence that you showed up here, today...
Even more of an amazing coincidence, is that I showed up here, today...AFTER this story was posted, AFTER I spent time talking to my ex boyfriend, who is a retired officer, that just happened to be listening to the mess play out over the scanner and then Hours AFTER that, I get a message from my friend and he tells me his cousin was killed in a shootout at Target...*takes a breath* AND Considering I no longer live in the Monterey Bay area, and have not spoken to either of these people in a couple of weeks, much less on the same day, ever...well that’s just obnoxiously coincidental! (Just like this post full of my obnoxious run-on sentences *winks*
Well Thank You Very Kindly!
1/2 woman, half amazing
Wellllll....more like 100% woman, .01 amazing. But thank you for that! *smiles*

Sand City >> The Monterey County Sheriffs Office has identified William Spaits, 27, and Tina Money, 23, as the fatalities in Mondays police shoot-out in the parking lot in front of a Target store in the Edgewater Shopping Center.
Spaits was wanted on a no-bail parole violation and $300,000 in other outstanding warrants, Monterey County District Attorney Dean Flippo said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Spaits failed to appear while out on bail, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on Sept. 14. Sand City police were attempting to serve that warrant when the gun battle broke out. The two policemen were wounded and taken to a local hospital. One was released on Monday evening, and the second officer was expected to be released Tuesday, according to Sand City police.
Spaits was charged with burglary in February 2013, and with domestic abuse and robbery in December 2014. He also had previous convictions for check forgery and second degree burglary.
Tina Money was charged in June with child abuse and with possession of controlled substances. The medications she was found to have without prescriptions were Diazepam, used to treat anxiety disorders; hydrochloride bupropion, an antidepressant; tramadol, a pain reliever; and carisoprodol, a muscle relaxant.
Money was scheduled to appear in court, but after failing to show up for three hearings, a warrant was issued for her arrest on Aug. 21. Flippo said she had warrants totaling $160,000. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
There was a third person who was taken into custody, Flippo said, but his name is not being released pending further investigation.
