I'll leave coverage of the substance of the GOP debate to others. I want to talk about the style of the participants--who was the best, most appealing speaker?
Chris Christie spoke too quickly, making himself appear nervous. Perhaps he was nervous, because he was on the verge of being eliminated from the grownups debate.
John Kasich has no eyebrows and his face looks partially melted, making himself look like a space alien. He spoke a lot but he didn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.
Carly Fiorina was forceful and articulate. She also looked stern and had this sour look on her face, like a constantly angry schoolmarm. She almost never smiled or had any warmth in her voice.
Ben Carson reminded me of blind David Patterson, the former Governor of New York who was very soft spoken. He talked about important things, but how can you speak with passion about the dangers of a nuclear Iran when you talk in such a soft tone?
Donald Trump was amusing as always and seemed like a character actor. Not exactly Presidential, more like Peter Falk from Columbo.
Ted Cruz was the best. He looked the camera right in the eye, and spoke with a clear, firm voice that had a sense of urgency.
Rand Paul was not great or terrible, but seemed to whine when he talked about drugs.
Scott Walker wasn't bad but he actually spoke the least in the debate. He has this weird way of staring into the camera with one eye but the other is a little off center making it look like he has a glass eye (which he doesn't.)
They showed Mike Huckabee often from a sideview and it wasn't flattering. He looks severely overweight but he did speak with passion. Marco Rubio spoke with a sense of urgency about foreign policy but there also seemed to be a note of desperation in his presentation.
Jeb Bush was definitely higher energy, but he had this weird habit of moving his head when he talked. As he talked at length I saw his head move left and right, right and left, and left and right like windshield wipers. I suppose he was trying to look at all the audience, but when the most important audience was behind a camera his movements seemed weird.
Overall Ted Cruz was the best. Carly had forceful moments but as I said she was not very likeable. Marco and even Jeb had moments too.
Ted Cruz
Actuallly...Peter Falk would have made a good POTUS!!!
“Donald Trump was amusing as always and seemed like a character actor”
The Prospective Candidate from new york did not amuse me at all...and in fact e seemed more like a BAD ACTOR..than a character actor
I” did not have Casino with that Man.. Jeb Bush.. not one time.. not ever”
The faster Carly talks, the faster her eyes move, quickly shifting every direction. At times they were almost spinning. I find it very distracting.
Trump and Cruz the rest should drop out. Give Carson cabinet position.
Well, thanks. I’m going with your assessment. Thanks for suffering the pain of watching so I didn’t have to.
I do agree she looks like she is angry all the time. Wonder why.
Every time Cruz answered Kaisch’s stupid questions, he (Kaisch) shifted around a ton and looked nervous. It was quite entertaining.
Tapper really hacked me off, shutting down Cruz and allowing everyone else to jump in at will.
There was no “Great Communicator” on stage.
Agree with your analysis, especially the word “Sour” to describe Fiorina. She probably had the best night of the group content-wise (a big improvement in her recognizable strengths) but she needs to stop sucking on lemons.
Cruz/Fiorina/Carson
Oh, and Yeb and Kasich will be gone by Halloween.
I love Ted. I’m a maxed out contributor.
Ted needs less “stentorian” and more “ad lib”.
I’ve actually seen him work a room, and his natural interaction with people is FAR SUPERIOR to what you saw last night, which was just okay.
BE NATURAL TED! You’re good at it.
Most appealing - from a pure content perspective, I like Carly. She seemed very competent, knowledgeable with fact based responses and was a forceful speaker.
For me, Trump is too gruff, he doesn’t show me the kind of demeanor I’d like to see in my Commander in Chief. I know others disagree, just MHO.
Cruz was definitely the best.
Carly was hateful.
Trump was off... much better in the post-debate interview.
The rest were just boring.
After he got done with a speech and was walking away, he'd turn around and say "Oh, one more thing," and walk back to the podium to pose a cogent question to the tv audience.
I'd love to the State of the Union address done as 'Columbo'.
the media HATES Ted Cruz
they LOVE the prospective candidate from NYC!
the prospective candidate from NYC! Gets Media Headlines
Cruz Gets Ignored
rocket science this isnt
Ted could Oull that off
the prospective candidate from NYC! is too dishonest to do it JUSTICE
