'Forty years ago this week, the Bay City Rollers were the biggest pop band in the UK and were about to the hit the United States, as the Scottish teen sensations rolled on towards turning the whole world tartan.'

Let’s dont speak ill of the Ramones.
No.
Amen
You are entirely true, 100% about Joey Ramone. This is a great and important topic.
Yes, they wanted to be pop stars. But they accomplished something far more important. They basically saved Rock and Roll from itself.
Without them....no New Wave, no Blondie, no Police...no U2.
And finally, they are getting the acclaim they deserve. U2 tells it like it is in their fantastic song, The Miracle (of Joey Ramone).
(And they are beginning their shows in their current tour with this....and I was fortunate enough to have seen it!).
Rock and Roll Love Letter is a great little song.
Not really. Those two and their outfits would have been laughed at then as now.
I thought they were a roller derby team.

I guess that means I can never run for public office!
Kiss has a pretty good cover of Rock and Roll Radio. I actually like it a whole lot.
I didn’t realize at first you were referring to the group’s outfits. I thought you meant those two goofy looking schmucks with the clown outfits. They looked like pajamas! :)
You have a wise and intelligent wife. Cherish her eternally for saving you from yourself.
I know cocaine is a hell of a drug and all and to be sure us 980s kids had zippers and neon but COME ON MAN!!!!!! ;)
Don Kirshner flashbacks
I remember when this song broke on the charts. The world was a much more decent and joyful place back then.

She is adorable. And that little salsa dance during the bridge knocks me out.
Lol. And combined height 6’8”
Thanks to punk and “ new wave “ a ton of great bands came along 1977-79 .
True. While it’s not accurate I equate new wave with the 80s even though it was a 80s creation. To me, the 70s are Disco and hippies. I know...Rush, Styx, Queen etc. But the blight of disco in my mind just ruins the whole thing.
In truth, the 70s were an awesome time for music. Better than the 60s imo. But its the disco thing. It colors everything for me. the music, the fashion, the .....just ruins it.
