Francesco Bove is lucky to be alive.
The 62-year-old artist was so viciously mauled by two pit bulls in the Bronx on Friday that a priest read him his last rites outside a church, CNN reported.

Owner should be prosecuted to the fullest extent.
Ignorant author must think it's something like a cop reading you your Miranda rights.
One performs or administers a "rite".
Where are the usual Pit Bull defenders on FR ?
As usual, they duck when one of these monsters does what it was bread to do.
The frickin’ idiot owner of these dogs should be charged with attempted murder of everyone those accursed creatures attacked.
Last week, a pit bill fanatic posting under the name “Lurker,” chastised me for suggesting the destruction of one of these animals if it appeared in my neighbor’s property.
Here, Lurker, Lurker...
That is almost impossible in the City of New York. Concealed Carry permits are rarer than hen’s teeth. I wonder what the owner did to make these dogs so aggressive. There are no bad dogs but there a certainly bad dog owners.
Chet, wherever you are, you were right.
You were doing FR a service.
I am a dog lover.
If ever I feel threatened by a dog, or believe that another person is threatened by a dog, or believe that my dog is threatened by another dog, I will take whatever action needed to remove that threat.
In the case of a pit bull, I view the animal as a deadly weapon.
I will escalate my use of force to the maximum, because to take any lesser action places me at risk for serious injury or death, and that’s a risk I’m not going to take.
To Hell with Pit Bulls and the trash that owns and breeds them.
The owner is at fault.
Any breed that gets popular gets dangerous. Breeders are at fault and owners who can’t handle them are at fault.
Many years ago, for instance, when Cocker Spaniels were so popular and unscrupulously bred, a baby was killed by one.
Outrageous!
That owner should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and the dogs should be put to sleep.
What’s interesting here is this look into the ultra liberal society that exists in New York City. Everyone stood around and basically did nothing. I don’t live there but where I do I would use one of my firearms and dispatch the dogs and then utilize my annual Red Cross First Aid and CPR training to assist the victim. Standing around would not have been an option.

Rural community animal etiquette
1) Human life is always has more value than animal life
2) Once an animal has injured a human it is destroyed because you can no longer trust it.
“The mobs of great cities add just so much to the support of pure government, as sores do to the strength of the human body. It is the manners, and spirit of a people which preserve a republic in vigour. A degeneracy in these is a canker which soon eats to the heart of its laws and constitution.”
Thomas Jefferson
From the article, it seems the victim and the owner “exchanged words” which sounds to me like an argument. The owner then dropped the dogs’ leash, which indicates to me she intended for her dogs to attack the victim.
If so, the owner is at fault. Perhaps a suitable punishment would be to sic some vicious dogs on her.
Chet was a zealot who wanted all bulldog breeds abolished.
I’ll ping him, per courtesy, but believe he’s gone because of his hatred for anything resembling a “pit bulldog”.
Educate yourself:

Liberals like to control things with euphemisms like “breed specific legislation”, “reasonable gun control”, “comprehensive immigration reform” and “higher school taxes-0it’s for the children!”.
Taken to its logical extreme, Chet’s position would abolish all dogs.
Having said that, this horrible incident is why I always carry at least a pocket .45. Those vicious curs should have been shot on the spot.
I’ve been chopped up breaking up Beagle fights. They are basically small wolves.
Chet was banned.
