Why The Donald Can Go the Distance (America first)
The Daily Beast ^ | 09.11.151:00 AM ET | Mark McKinnon

Sorry, folks, Trump isn’t going to fade away anytime soon, and will likely still be a major force at the convention.

Donald Trump is keeping a lot of people up at night. And they are wrestling with scenarios about how and when he is going to fade or go away. The problem is they are leaning on history and conventional wisdom as their crutch. And Trump is turning out to be a crutch kicker.

Donald Trump is not going away any time soon. In fact, he may be here to stay. Here’s why.

Voters have become completely disillusioned with politics because they have been let down so many times.

They don’t believe a word any politician says anymore. And they don’t really care what the outcome of the elections are because they don’t think anyone will keep their word anyway. Voters are at the Network threshold: they’re mad as hell, and they’re not going to take it anymore.

So what better way to express their disgust with the system than to take a very large and sharp stick and poke it in the eye of the body politic. And that stick is Donald Trump.

If there is one thing Donald Trump amplifies and exemplifies more than anyone imaginable, it is utter contempt for the establishment status quo.

They don’t believe a word any politician says anymore....

This is true, but this has always been true to an extent, Obama's lies, however, have had a real-world negative impact on the populace, this makes it different. And the media has carried his water every step of the way. They have lost their ability to persuade. Not a popular opinion on this forum, but watch and see.

The media have lost not only credibility, more importantly they have lost relevance. This is what Trump sees, and he is taking full advantage.

So, in this election, Obama is the elephant in the room. The Dems, anyone they run, will be defeated. The Dems are dispirited, broken, and the story of the election will be that the Dems stayed home. In droves.

President Trump.

So many people have put so much money on “making sure certain things happen” and here comes Trump ruining all their investment. Of course they are upset. Hey, you billionaires, crap happens. Get used to it like we “little people” have to. So you wasted a few million on a horse that can’t even get out of the gate. Remember the races you rigged, er, won fondly.

The thought here is that Trump will blow it, which will allow the base to latch onto Cruz. Cruz is by far the best candidate.

I agree Cruz is a strong candidate, but he needs to be (much) more for a return of American production.

He’s very strong on the border, but seems sold out in some ways on American production.

Only Trump is leading in that area.

I'm pro-Trump, and would like to see a Trump/Cruz ticket. However, I'm starting to think that Trump might indeed blow it, specifically by saying a too-long string of silly things. The comment about Fiorina's looks is be one example of such a silly thing.

Seems this was said in 2012 and we saw how that turned out.

I agree.

Donald needs to stay away from saying such things.

Especially about her. It may be politically incorrect to say a lot of what he says, but she’s a woman, and as such deserves a certain amount of respect.

Just because. Trump don’t pick on Fiorina, at least not on her looks.

I'm half expecting Trump to say something that will cause him to loose the nomination. We shall just half to wait and see. But always have a backup plan. Mine is Ted Cruz. Good to see them having a bromance. They'd make a hell of a team.

Mark is a Austin leftist who worked for these lib Gopers but he is a hard core leftist .
He has been pretending to be a republican so he can destroy the gop from within.

Mark is a con artist . Marky favorite Dem was that nasty Ann Richardson whose daughter run the baby chop shop called planned parenthood. Marky was the guy whose employee gave Al Gore the Bush debate tapes in 2000. In 2008, Marky left the Mccain campaign because he loved Barry the Muslim Brotherhood Trojan Horse!

I love what Trump is doing to the GOPe although my candidate is Cruz. But he has to watch what he’s saying, can you imagine if he said the face comments about Hillary? The media would never let us forget and it would become a campaign controversy.

“...but she’s a woman, and as such deserves a certain amount of respect.”

Very chivalrous of you, Sir Percival and very out dated in an era when so many women seem to believe that a man automatically deserves a certain amount of DISrespect. I pay little attention to Fiorina but there are a number of women in the news these days who shall have ZERO respect from me simply because they don’t do anything to deserve it, first on the list at present is one Hillary Rodham Clinton.

I remembered back when Ronald Reagan took office ... by the mere fact that he was about to make a speech ... Iran released all the hostages.............

I remember it too. Also remember a reporter sticking a microphone in Reagan’s face and said “How are you going to fix the hostage situation in Iran”

Reagan said “The Iranians are barbarians and will be treated as such”

Guess the Iranians figured out what that meant.

We should extend that treatment to ISIS today.

People were pissed at Carter almost as much as Obama and went out in droves to kick him out.

But will he ease our pain?

What if Trump becomes the next POTUS, and then, Trump moves leftwards, politically? Trump has a leftist record on most issues, and this fact shouldn’t be ignored! Trump may, actually, practice what he says, but I will remain very cautious about him. Conservatives have been and will continue to be disappointed with many individuals who run for office as conservatives only to end up, in political office, as leftists, instead! What ever happened to “No more RINOS!”?

Which Donald will show up? The Donald who donates to Dems and pays Hillary to attend his wedding because it is good for business or the Donald who does a 180 and says conservative things because it is good for politics?

He sure has me guessing.
