I have been seeing a lot of articles in the last 24 hours, about Donald Trump supposedly signing a pledge to the GOP to not run as an independent.
Today.
My advice to Donald (I say this as an early, and enthusiastic supporter of yours) is DO NOT TAKE THIS PLEDGE RIGHT NOW.
In my opinion the GOPe is still driving the GOP. You do not yet control the agenda, it is controlled by a smaller group of people who are fundamentally hostile to your intentions.
Sure I believe at some point it will be important to take a pledge like this.
But not yet.

Loyalty pledges come later. For now keep on talking issues.
Pledge to ¡Jeb!
Tell Preibus that you pledge to run a third party candidacy if even one state GOP blocks you from the ballot.
Who would believe a politician’s pledge anyway?
I would believe a pledge from Trump.
Don’t pledge yet Donald.
This COULD be the day the Republican party is declared DEAD.
That’s my take on it. If he feels like it, take the pledge and break it later on. Sadly, Trump has already said he likes to honor bad deals; he just likes to find loopholes to get out of them. Maybe his lawyer can help.
I, Donald Trump, pledge to support the winner of the gOp POTUS primary and not run Third Party as long as ....
None of the "The GOPe construct to nominate Jeb Bush" ... consisting of ten candidates: Jeb Bush ◾Marco Rubio ◾Carly Fiorina ◾Mike Huckabee ◾Chris Christie ◾John Kasich ◾Rick Perry ◾Lindsey Graham ◾George Pataki and Jim Gilmore) are the Party's nominee. If any of them are the nominee, all bets are off.
I would hope he's smarter than that.
This is truly a fascinating event in history. One of the two national political parties has a candidate leading in the polls of their primary and beating the opposition party in several battleground states and the party is rejecting the candidate.
The GOPe had a great plan to sell their souls to the highest bidders, line their own pockets and then rule the kingdom from the comfort and safety of the beltway paradise they built with the peoples money. It was a great plan, right up to the point a candidate arrived on then scene that their money can’t buy and the people they need to vote for them told them to stick it where the sun don’t shine.
For those who’ve said we don’t need a third party, we need to take back our party, your time is here!
The GOP cannot be trusted. They’re controlled by the GOPE.
Good post.
I completely agree. Keep your independence for now, Donald.
A whole huge lot of us out here, are on your side.
The way the rules are set up a Conservative or Trump could easily have a large plurality of the total primary votes and not even be eligible to be considered at the Convention. Add the Super Delegates controlled by the RNC into the mix and Bush is the Nominee who will go on to lie down on the mat for the election day ten count. Of course if the nominee is, indeed, Bush then it doesn't matter whether he takes a dive or not.
My thoughts, too. Pledge with conditions.
And ... whatever he does with the pledge, his 2:00pm press conference will be to say his pledge is to the American People first, not some political party.
We’re Ron Paul or Gary Johnson asked to sign a pledge in 2012??
Take The Pledge... I just don’t see Trump polishing his own furniture.
He shouldn’t say ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ Just tell them he will think about it... and let them wait... and wait.
The GOPe is always going to drive the GOP. That can’t be changed. Ronald Reagan suspended SOME of their influence for a very brief 8 years. But as soon as he was gone it was back to business as usual with Poppy Bush and it’s been downhill ever since.
