I see no reason to believe the author.
There are people who, for their own reasons, want to believe.
They prefer the thought that they were chatting with a bored housewife then a $10.00 hooker.

And lots of people like to read sordid stories about other people's lives, real or fictional. Is True Confessions magazine still publishing, or has its audience turned to reality tv because they can't read anymore?
