In Iowa, Walker Dodges Immigration Specifics

DES MOINES — Scott Walker memorably confronted protesters but ducked specifics on his immigration reform stance during a dizzying stop at the Iowa State Fair on Monday.

Walker was met with questions about Trump’s newly released immigration reform plan and how it stacks up with his own views.

But the Wisconsin governor was not eager to answer in any detail.

But, as members of the media swarmed Walker after his remarks at the fair, pressing for details on his stance, he would not reveal more.

Would he support, as Trump does, ending birthright citizenship?

“I think in terms of changing it, even [Senate Minority Leader] Harry Reid said it’s not right for a country to recognize a birthright for people whose families have not come in legally,” Walker said, without stating what he personally believes.

Would Walker deport the parents of children who are natural-born citizens?

“In terms of deporting, the best thing we can do is enforce the law,” he replied.

And when asked by RealClearPolitics what he meant by saying he does “not believe in amnesty,” Walker said: “That means you don’t — that means you don’t support amnesty.”

But did that mean Walker would deport the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants already in the U.S.?

“No, it means I’d enforce the law. ... It means enforcing the law. E-verify, making sure every employer in this country upholds the law.”

The strained back-and-forth was illustrative of the two-term governor’s strategy as his polling numbers have recently declined in Iowa and nationally: extreme caution and message discipline.

The RealClearPolitics polling average shows Walker now at 11 percent support in the state, compared to nearly 21 percent at the beginning of August.

See, this is how it goes.

From Republicans, the press wants “specifics”.

From 0bama, the policy is “enforce zero laws”.

Nothing could ever be so specific as to refuse to enforce ANY laws. That law over there? We don’t enforce that. Limitations on welfare, food stamps? Gone. Overstay visas? We don’t care.

He forgot to memorize Trump’s plan, so he couldn’t give details.

The Lame Media screams you don't have any specifics to Trump, and now he does. OMG!

The same dingbat media that let Obama get away with repeating ad nauseam "Hopey and Changey" and "Do you want pie? I got you some pie" all the way to his nomination.

Walker is getting there slowly. "Me Toooooo" ... The Trump effect at work.

...and as a result made a mess all over himself.

I am really beginning to wonder if he isn't a front man for the real governor of Wisconsin. I haven't heard an original idea from him yet. He just doesn't seem terribly bright.

Fellow Texans, I am proudly standing here to humbly see.
I assure you, and I mean it- Now, who says I don’t speak out as plain as day?
And, fellow Texans, I’m for progress and the flag- long may it fly.
I’m a poor boy, come to greatness. So, it follows that I cannot tell a lie.
Ooh I love to dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don’t-
I’ve come and gone and, ooh I love to sweep around the wide step, cut a little swathe and lead the people on.
Now my good friends, it behooves me to be solemn and declare,
I’m for goodness and for profit and for living clean and saying daily prayer.
And now, my good friends, you can sleep nights, I’ll continue to stand tall.
You can trust me, for I promise, I shall keep a watchful eye upon ya’ll…
Ooh I love to dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don’t-
I’ve come and gone and, ooh I love to sweep around the wide step, cut a little swathe and lead the people on.
Now, Miss Mona, I don’t know her, though I’ve heard the name, oh yes.
But, of course I’ve no close contact, so what she is doing I can only guess.
And now, Miss Mona, she’s a blemish on the face of that good town.
I am taking certain steps here, someone somewhere’s gonna have to close her down.
Ooh I love to dance a little sidestep, now they see me now they don’t-
I’ve come and gone and, ooh I love to sweep around the wide step, cut a little swathe and lead the people on.
Ooh I love to dance a little sidestep…
And, ooh I love to sweep around the wide step…
Cut a little swathe and lead the people on

You can’t go half way, Scott. This is like being “a little bit pregnant.” No such thing.

Take a few days off. Get your head together. Decide whether you’re going to be a RINO or a patriot. Whatever you decide, you can’t take this back. You’re not in Wisconsin anymore. This is a presidential election and everybody’s watching. Everybody.

No. These Trump/Cruz supporters are slime and will consume anyone that they do not feel is up to their standards of conservatism. They remind me of the super-religious who tear everyone else down because they believe they are superior.

Sorry, I do not subscribe to a snob's view of conservatism.

Walker has an extensive RECORD of conservative programs he implemented in Wisconsin. He got no support from the GOP for his recall until it was clear he was winning. He has done more to advance the conservative agenda than any candidate running (all this cannot be disputed) yet some wish to impugn his character, his beliefs and his ideals by using liberal sources who think all Republicans are conservatives who need to be destroyed.

Walker is so bad even Brad Dayspring won’t be able to smear the other candidates fast enough. :-)

Isn't that the truth? Saw an article earlier this week that stated they estimate over 1.4 million poured over the border since last October, but they're still sticking to the 11 million number. If we're increasing at a rate of approximately 1 million a month, it's pretty hard to maintain a static number, but they've been trotting out 11 million for YEARS. I'm with you, I think it's at least 4-5 times that high.
