How long before they make then throw it back into the river?
To: Kartographer
Yeah, they might be able to display it in some museum, as long as any confederate flag insignia are removed from it.

Iirc there was a similar Civil War riverine steam warship that Clive Cussler’s group went after years ago.
They showed up at the site only a couple days after the Army Corps of Engineers had obliterated the thing by dredging straight through it.

Why do these morons feel the need to give us the metric system units?

The United States of America *NEVER* had a *CIVIL* war.

Maybe they left their meters running...

Cuz THAT is what the Civil War all about....changing to the metric system. :)

Only charge white folks to get into the eventual museum.

This is what she looked like back in the day:

Due to her scuttling, previous dredging and more damage from attempts to try to remove her, it doesn't sound like there is intact hull to raise.

Thanks Tennessee Nana. Even apart from the historical and scientific aspects, it's excellent that the unexploded ordinance has been removed from the navigable waterway.

Hope she isn’t flying a Confederate flag. God knows what kind of uproar it would cause if she was.
To: colorado tanker
Looks to be basically the same design as The Merrimac.

You never know who's going to show up when you post something on the internet, or who'll link to it or repost it.
Maybe "os Confederatos" in Brazil are just dying to hear what happened to their navy and what can be salvaged from it.

Bring it up so we can hate it.
To: AppyPappy
I am afraid if that hulk is raised somebody will go on a shooting rampage.
