I need to lower my blood pressure a little for a physical tomorrow. Is it possible to lower one's blood pressure in 24 hours? If so, how?
I thought HBP was the problem, and a big one, whatever the cause. If medication lowers it, the problem is addressed. No? We'd all like to solve our health problems without medication, but most times that is impossible. How do the meds kill?
Short of anti-hypertension drugs, you don`t have many options. You may try ZERO sodium and caffeine, coupled with sweat generating exercise and/or even a steam sauna,(stay hydrated) assuming you can safely handle it, but don`t go overboard.
Here’s something that works for me on-the-spot. Its temporary, not long term. Don’t know how safe it is or if it would work for others:
Take a very very deep breath. then puff up the lungs even more. and even a little more. Hold the breath. Now take your blood pressure with the lungs fully expanded.
I can get my pressure to drop 30 points this way. But it comes back up when I start breathing again.
I can adjust this. Taking a less-deep breath and holding it, my pressure drops only 10 points or so.
I think what is happening is that the lungs expand, and more circulating blood gets pooled in the lung circulation, resulting in an offload of pressure in the system, so the blood pressure reading comes down.
Of course, this defeats the point of recognizing and treating underlying hypertension if you are trying to dodge the issue at the doctor’s office.
“How do the meds kill?”
I don’t except some doctor knowing what effects certain meds may have on me. There are dozens of side effects for certain drugs. Trust but verify. I’ve used this website for years, type your prescription in and find out the problems others have had. We increasingly need to be proactive about our own health.

How do you get your sugar lower with cinnamon?
lick your finger, stick it in a pile of Bullseye gunpowder.
I have seen the label.
Some more great advice: Do NOT allow them to take your blood pressure until YOU feel settled and that your reading reflects your normal state, not a RUSHED state. Don’t let them push you into a reading until YOU are ready. Politely ask for more time if need be.
Stay away from Trump threads.
There are many of us who have had life-threatening heart attacks. Blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds AND MOST IMPORTANTLY ASPIRIN ARE A HEART ATTACK VICTIMS’ BEST FRIEND.
A meditation trick.
Put your finger on your wrist and feel your pulse. Use your heartbeat for a clock. Breathe normally and see how many beats pass as you breathe in, how many beats pass when you breathe out. It should be close to the same number.
If youre breathing in and mentally counting 1...2...3...4... as you breathe in, and similarly breathe out for four beats, increase it to five. Its OK to breathe deeper. Try to breathe with your belly, focusing lower and lower until it feel like youre breathing with your prostate. But for now, see how it feels as your body adjusts to five beats. When it feels completely comfortable, increase it to six. Continue in this manner.
If you get the hang of this tonight, and practice it as you’re waiting to be called, this might relax you for those few extra points.
I don’t drive, I just need to maintain the license for work. Weird, I know.
Please point out what has changed since the article was published. nothing in my experience. I agree HBP is nothing to trifle with but it is a very complicated issue that often just has medication thrown at it.
My husbands blood pressure is always high at docs office...it’s called white coat effect...you really need a few minutes to settle and relax before they take it.
Well, it works for me. Most of the time.
Cinnamon supposedly helps metabolize sugar in your body.
It is generally well known, but I have not kept any links.
Also, steamed brussels sprout with a little bit of butter and garlic.
First, go get a bucket of Leeches...
Another suggestion.
Close your eyes and imagine Hillary and Obama sharing a Jail Cell in Leavenworth.
Think about Hillary being frog-marched.
Xanax 1 hour before physical.
