Fig Eater Beetle. We get them here in Texas. Comes up from Mexico. They only feed on already damaged/rotting fruit. Pretty, aren’t they?

those things are a serious PITA. they eat everything it seems. dusting and spraying only seems to help slightly and it’s a never ending battle. consider yourself fortunate, we are being invaded by stink bugs in Indiana. they used to be pretty rare, now the things are everywhere.

I live in Texas, so, yes I do know a fair amount about bugs.
It’s not a June bug. They’re about the same size, but more oval-round and all brown.
Japanese beetle is my guess. It’s sort of pretty.

Always good for a giggle, or two.

Correction - I was wrong on both counts. The common June bug is all brown. This one looks to be a green June bug, as pointed out above (had I read before I replied).

The Green June beetle is - Cotinis nitida, the Figeater beetle is Cotinis mutabilis.
Considering your location, Cotinis mutabilis....

Kevin I’m surprised those damned things are that far North. We have them this time of year by the thousands in So. California. Japanese Beetles.
Destroy them IF YOU CAN. They eat everything, and multiply like crazy, but although it seems forever they only last a couple of months out of each year.

Is that supposed to be a Hillary Clinton poll worker? Or just someone who claims they do not have to have a voter ID to vote for her?
