I have an appointment with a specialist next Wednesday. What drugs or other treatments are you receiving now?
Which joint are concerned about?
Hands especially the thumbs,knees,and hips.
Glucosomine and fish oil(salmon oil specifically)
Is cannibis legal where you live?
15 years ago could no longer run or play guitar when 55 because of osteo.
2000mg Glucosamine, 1500 mg Chondroitin, MSM daily and a month later I’m running and playing guitar painlessly.
Pretty much the same today, but some rheumatoid under kneecaps keeps me from running now.....
Arthro 7 is another great supplement, but more for rheumatoid.
If you ask the doctor about this stuff he will likely tell you that "studies show" that it is all totally ineffective. My own experience and that of others whom I have turned on to the GC+ says those studies are BS.
Don’t think so,I’d prefer to avoid it anyway.
Start donating blood, drinking wheat grass juice extract and whey protein. Supplement with vitamin d3, lactoferrin and inositol. Excess iron is accumulating in the synovial fluids and reactive oxygen species blocks the ability to regrow the cartilage.
For later.
My other problem is my lower back. Again, loss of cartilidge from between the discs. Also, arthritis on a lot of my spinal column. Nothing but chiropratic when needed. This is my father's back, and he also did chiropractic for it for most of his life. I believe the low back is affecting the left hip.
Is this SynVisc that you are receiving? If so I had several rounds of those shots in my knees, but still ended up with bilateral total knee replacements (about a year apart). My knees are so awesome now - wish the rest of my body could keep up with them!
cannabis just acts a a pain killer. I don’t like to use pain killers for arthritis because the pain is telling me that I shouldn’t be moving the joint. Anti inflammatories like Glucosamine and Chodroitin and MSM actually reduce the inflammation and you are not doing more damage when you move. If the inflammation is down then the pain is down or gone. Fish oil doesn’t hurt either.
I have a titanium knee but it is a result of an accident. It works great.
I want to thank everyone for all the good advice.
I have osteoarthritis in my hands. It was obvious from looking at the swollen finger joints but xrays showed the extent of the damage. My MD also thought carpal tunnel syndrome was a possibility in my wrists so I was sent to a specialist for conductivity tests. Those tests came back normal. The test itself isn’t painful, it just feels like having a rubber band snapped against your skin. I’m only telling you about this in case your MD recommends it, so you won’t be overly concerned.
For the osteoarthritis in my hands I was prescribed Naprosyn, which is prescription strength Aleve. I don’t remember for how long I had to take it, maybe a month? Anyway that relieved the inflammation and stiffness quite a bit..my MD said it helps some people but not others..it did help me.
He is on the fence RE Glucosamine ..I don’t take it. Occasionally when the soreness/stiffness gets bad I’ll take some Naprosyn which helps.
Hope my missive helps you..hang in there let us know how it works out for you!
Well, what I do to treat what was so bad that it interferred with sleep, and pretty much any movement, was to go on an anti-inflammatory diet. Pretty much a paleo/atkins kind of diet. Carbs seem to be the problem.
If I do have carbs now, I can count on being achy and creaky, and not able to sleep because of the discomfort.
If I avoid carbs, and include a fair amount of fat in my diet, I feel fine. Better than fine, actually.
Meat, veggies, cream, butter, some fruit (but, I’m not a big fan of fruit anyway). No bread, no sugar. Pretty easy. And, the results are truly remarkable.
I take Glucosamine, Condroitin & MSM daily. They do seem to help with joint issues.
I like the Swanson brand. They seem somewhat expensive, but the 1-a-day 240 tablet bottle last for months.

When I do get joint pain, I apply a heating pad as hot as I can stand it for about an hour several times per day. After 2-3 days that seems to have ‘burned’ the pain out.
I’ve been using Glucosamine Sulfate on the advice of my rheumatologist. I also use Blue Emu (Walmart seems to have the best price) once a day. Together they seem to relieve the symptoms. Mine isn’t severe, though.
