Republican Attorney General Brad Schimel, at a summit he convened last Wednesday on open government, stressed that Wisconsin's public records laws must not be weakened.
At the same time many of you were contacting elected representatives on Independence Day weekend, you were urging us to keep investigating until we found out who was responsible.
We've been doing just that with the aid of our open records law. On the same day Schimel held his open government summit, we reported on a new batch of emails.
They show it was Gov. Scott Walker and staff who added language exempting "deliberative process" documents from public records. This would have allowed elected representatives and bureaucrats to bury records revealing lobbying, opinions, analyses, recommendations, negotiations, suggestions and other notes that precede a decision.
No one had a whiff of what Walker, Vos and a few other party leaders were planning to do to the open records law until they inserted it into the state budget, at the last minute, on the night before a holiday weekend. We now know they had been working in secret on the changes for weeks, if not months.
You halted their plan.
When the public roared against limiting records access, Gov. Walker said it "didn't come from us."
The move appears to be no more than an attempt to avoid "political embarrassment," Esenberg said.
This is not a partisan issue. The people of Wisconsin want open, honest government.
It is not too much to ask. It is not too much to demand.

Walkers support for one of the largest budget deals in the past raises the question whether Walker would pursue a similar budget as president.

.....”Walker makes a lot of amateurish mistakes and he comes across as too moderate when he dodges issues or waits till he sees the writing on the wall before he makes a decision.... Thats not leadership, but its how a republican stays alive in such a blue state.”.....
That’s how I see him....and I believe he will operate in Washington where we need someone very decisive...and can make decisions quickly ....
Good resource thanks!!!
I liked this one...
During the 2014 election, Walker touted his ability to close a projected $3.6 billion deficit when he assumed office in 2011. He relied on a combination of spending cuts, reduced aid to local governments, and increased contributions to state pension funds to close the gap. Walker also adjusted several tax credits to bolster tax revenue. (Wisconsin State Legislature) At the close of the 2013 fiscal year, Wisconsin state budget officers reported a $759 million surplus.
and this one..
In November 2014, Moodys Investors Service upgraded the states bond rating from stable to positive. Moodys also affirmed the Aa2 rating on the states $7.7 billion in outstanding general obligations bonds.

But the governor is on solid ground in saying the Wisconsin system is fully funded — and the only one in the nation, to boot.
Yeah - you're right. Anyone who takes a pile of crap and then starts to use it as fertilizer to start to grow something from it is just plain loco - much better if he had raised taxes instead of cutting them because everyone knows that raising taxes is the only way to go.
If you note, according to as you say this “Good Resource” Walker’s unwillingness to be solid on conservatism rates low in comparison to others..... Mainly because he avoids are rides the fence on issues midway....which is why he’s one of the favorites for Democrats who believe he will “Play” their game in Washington.
