I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium. Can I upgrade to 10? A few sites I visit (like Youtube) recently started telling me to upgrade because their site will not support my browser.

Well now you have one yes, and one no.
Thats the problem with not finding your answer to a common question yourself on the internet.
Go through google and find out explicitly your answer.

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium. Can I upgrade to 10? You can, but you need to get fingerprinted and pay for a background check.

No, you can't upgrade your operating system for free. But you can change your web browser. Decide who you want to spy on you, and download appropriately. If you can't upgrade your IE, try Chrome or Firefox.

You need Windows 7 with Service Pack or Windows 8.1 to upgrade for free. You can get Windows 7 on ebay for well under $50. You will have to do a fresh install, which you are likely due for anyway.

You can but you’ll have to pay for it; the free upgrade is only for 7, 8 and 8.1.

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium. Can I upgrade to 10? Windows 10 is a "free upgrade" to Windows 7 and Windows 8.x users. Vista and XP users will be required to purchase a new license.

You won't be offered the free upgrade to Windows 10 (only fir Windows 7, 8, or 8.1), you'd have to buy it and do a fresh install on your hard drive. There are ways around this - if you have a Windows 10 free preview disc, you can install that and MS will upgrade it to Windows 10 release.
But if the only problem is with your browser and you're happy with Vista otherwise, why not try Chrome or Firefox or Safari for Windows?

Go for 7, a pirated “legit” install like the OP mentioned. Any machine that runs Vista Home Premium nicely will run 7 like a bat outta hell. All the nice stuff, none of the crap.
