The time has come to take action against thread hijackers.
Let me begin with an example of thread hijacking:
Like most Freepers, I am pro-life. Abortion and and euthanasia appall me, and marketing the results even more so. I support candidates who oppose the culture of death, and cheer when it is thwarted.
I also do not find it necessary to mention these facts on EVERY. FREAKING. THREAD.
There is a certain type of Freeper, though, who has no such restraint. For these zealots, any thread that deviates from the pro-life cause, no matter how trivially, is a heresy that must be immediately suppressed.
You are shocked by cruelty to animals? I guess that means you couldn't care less about the cruelty of THE MILLIONS OF CHILDREN ABORTED EVERY YEAR!!!!!
You lost a beloved pet? Why can't you mourn THE THOUSANDS OF ABORTED BABIES WHO DIED THE SAME DAY?!!!!
Your car shredded its transmission and you're looking at thousands of dollars in repairs? Why aren't you thinking about THE BABIES WHO WILL NEVER GROW UP TO BE AUTO MECHANICS BECAUSE THEY WERE ABORTED?!!!!
(OK, maybe I made that last one up.)
Arguing with these people is pointless. It's the same principle as wrestling with a pig - you just get muddy and the pig enjoys it. Similarly, trying to convince them that they are being rude is a waste of time - THE CAUSE is far more important little things like courtesy and respect.
So, what can we do about it?
We can get drunk.
I hereby propose The Thread Hijack Drinking Game. The rules are simple: When a poster tries to hijack an unrelated thread to his or her pet cause, you 1) reply to the hijack attempt by quoting the text in question, followed by the word "DRINK!", and 2) Take a drink (or any volume) of your favorite beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). Moderation is suggested on animal cruelty threads to avoid alcohol poisoning.
This game will not, I admit, solve the thread hijacking problem. But after a certain number of attempts we will no longer care.
And if anyone is offended by my little proposal, I can only say...
DRINK!
You will have them until you tell me you don’t need them anymore. :)
He probably doesn’t know as much as I do about transportation services here, since that was my job for five years.
A few new ones have sprung up, but I’m sure that’s because of the growth of the Valley and the needs of the increasing amount of seniors needing transportation.

Anyway, I will pray. I need to get organized and go teach my class ... last one in this session.
Since I left Paratransit, most of the people who were in charge of making my life miserable are gone. I’ve sent an email and will await the response.
And I will go to bed, soon. I’m stressed out about this morning, and I doubt that I can do any more good sitting here.

I’m not quite so bad today, but the day has just begun, so I don’t know what will be waiting for me.
52 degrees and 40% with no wind, so far, though it is soon to start up again from the storms up north.
It’s official: My soon-to-be GG-grandchild is a boy: Isaac Connor Rich. I’m not sure when his due date is, but he is outnumbered by three girls that came before he did! I’m excited! He’s named after his daddy!
The kid is obviously precocious. He’s sexting already.
Kinda hard to do from his mom’s belly! LOL!

Tom, Kathleen, and I have been haircutted!
YAY! I will need a trim again, soon, just to even up the hair a little. I haven’t even thought of getting it cut, as that would mean styling and it is something I would have to keep up on my own, so I’m just better getting it trimmed. Maybe when it grows another 8-10” I will cut it and donate the hair.
It’s been a quiet day today. I don’t even know if anyone went to the ramada or not as I haven’t been outside except to look at the thermometer. I think there’s no mail today, so there wasn’t much sense of going out.
To all Veterans, including Active Duty, and those who are yet to join, I hope your day is great, and that all the flags fly high in your honor!
