The time has come to take action against thread hijackers.
Let me begin with an example of thread hijacking:
Like most Freepers, I am pro-life. Abortion and and euthanasia appall me, and marketing the results even more so. I support candidates who oppose the culture of death, and cheer when it is thwarted.
I also do not find it necessary to mention these facts on EVERY. FREAKING. THREAD.
There is a certain type of Freeper, though, who has no such restraint. For these zealots, any thread that deviates from the pro-life cause, no matter how trivially, is a heresy that must be immediately suppressed.
You are shocked by cruelty to animals? I guess that means you couldn't care less about the cruelty of THE MILLIONS OF CHILDREN ABORTED EVERY YEAR!!!!!
You lost a beloved pet? Why can't you mourn THE THOUSANDS OF ABORTED BABIES WHO DIED THE SAME DAY?!!!!
Your car shredded its transmission and you're looking at thousands of dollars in repairs? Why aren't you thinking about THE BABIES WHO WILL NEVER GROW UP TO BE AUTO MECHANICS BECAUSE THEY WERE ABORTED?!!!!
(OK, maybe I made that last one up.)
Arguing with these people is pointless. It's the same principle as wrestling with a pig - you just get muddy and the pig enjoys it. Similarly, trying to convince them that they are being rude is a waste of time - THE CAUSE is far more important little things like courtesy and respect.
So, what can we do about it?
We can get drunk.
I hereby propose The Thread Hijack Drinking Game. The rules are simple: When a poster tries to hijack an unrelated thread to his or her pet cause, you 1) reply to the hijack attempt by quoting the text in question, followed by the word "DRINK!", and 2) Take a drink (or any volume) of your favorite beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). Moderation is suggested on animal cruelty threads to avoid alcohol poisoning.
This game will not, I admit, solve the thread hijacking problem. But after a certain number of attempts we will no longer care.
And if anyone is offended by my little proposal, I can only say...
DRINK!
I have seen most of America, but NYC was NOT on any lists. However, when someone offered me free tickets, I went. I wouldn’t go again, but I enjoyed the experience!
I’ve gotten exactly two comments on GLK, but probably because I’ve had two people in the house since I got it. :o|
I can hardly wait until Chick-fil-A gets here, 2016. It will be in Henderson, but Henderson city limits are HUGH! I don’t know if they will have to build the place or if they can use an existing building, but I’m looking forward to it!
KFC or Popeyes?
Original or Extra Krispy?
Do you want fries with that?
I’ll never live long enough or generate enough money to see all the places I want to see in the world, so my Bucket List consists of things I have to do considering my personal history and genealogy.
I want some coffee, but I have to take an ulcer cocktail, first. No word from my doctor...
My favorite chicken place is Church’s Fried Chicken...SO much better than KFC or Popeye’s.
They had a Chick -fil-A near me but it closed. The closest one now is 11 miles away.
All are in Shopping Malls.
I wish one was free standing.
I really wish we had a Waffle House

Of all the times i've been to York, have never been in the Yorvic complex.
They don’t have those in NJ. :(
Highly recommend Yorvick.
They have a ride you go through, and you can see what it was like to be a Viking. They even got the smell of what it smelled like back then.
It really wasn’t touristy. It was educational,
It has to do with a river I think.
I don’t know if Church’s ever made it east of the Missouri River, but when we lived in St. Charles, MO, we lived next door to a guy who managed one. Ohhh! That chicken is SO good!
Another place I’ll never be able to go! More parts of my ancestry that I’ll miss. *sob*
Well, when I’m in the Spirit World, maybe I can take a hiatus from being an escort and visit all the places I missed on Earth. :o])
So much I can only read about!
Street= Gate
Gate= Bar
The crossover of Saxon and Norse lives on to this day. :)
(((Hug)))
We await the Royal visit of the millennium. :)
Thanks! But you’ll probably be with me, because I will seek you out, just to finally meet one of my champions! *smooch*
*tagline*
Sometimes sleeps are the best.
Just caught sight of your tag line, LOLOLOLOLOL!!!
