The time has come to take action against thread hijackers.
Let me begin with an example of thread hijacking:
Like most Freepers, I am pro-life. Abortion and and euthanasia appall me, and marketing the results even more so. I support candidates who oppose the culture of death, and cheer when it is thwarted.
I also do not find it necessary to mention these facts on EVERY. FREAKING. THREAD.
There is a certain type of Freeper, though, who has no such restraint. For these zealots, any thread that deviates from the pro-life cause, no matter how trivially, is a heresy that must be immediately suppressed.
You are shocked by cruelty to animals? I guess that means you couldn't care less about the cruelty of THE MILLIONS OF CHILDREN ABORTED EVERY YEAR!!!!!
You lost a beloved pet? Why can't you mourn THE THOUSANDS OF ABORTED BABIES WHO DIED THE SAME DAY?!!!!
Your car shredded its transmission and you're looking at thousands of dollars in repairs? Why aren't you thinking about THE BABIES WHO WILL NEVER GROW UP TO BE AUTO MECHANICS BECAUSE THEY WERE ABORTED?!!!!
(OK, maybe I made that last one up.)
Arguing with these people is pointless. It's the same principle as wrestling with a pig - you just get muddy and the pig enjoys it. Similarly, trying to convince them that they are being rude is a waste of time - THE CAUSE is far more important little things like courtesy and respect.
So, what can we do about it?
We can get drunk.
I hereby propose The Thread Hijack Drinking Game. The rules are simple: When a poster tries to hijack an unrelated thread to his or her pet cause, you 1) reply to the hijack attempt by quoting the text in question, followed by the word "DRINK!", and 2) Take a drink (or any volume) of your favorite beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). Moderation is suggested on animal cruelty threads to avoid alcohol poisoning.
This game will not, I admit, solve the thread hijacking problem. But after a certain number of attempts we will no longer care.
And if anyone is offended by my little proposal, I can only say...
DRINK!
Raining buckets here. I was just heading out to drive Tom to English class when Bill showed up with the car. Hopefully Tom will avoid Low Water Crossings on the way home.
Adam West had a second career doing cartoon voice work since the millennium. He’s been very successful in “Family Guy” and “Fairly Odd Parents” and it’s a good thing because it made his work popular to today’s kids and teens I would guess.
I’ve enjoyed him on both shows.
Tom came home early because the power went out at CPCC. Also at the Walmart. Water over the road in a lot of places, but the rain has stopped now.
Bluebell wood England
Good morning baby basement cat
Good morning TC
Good morning. Nice flowers!
Good morning Covenator.
Good morning everyone. Just made a pot of coffee.
Making a grocery shopping list. Trying to figure out what to get. So fer I’m just on eggs and milk and bread.,
Now move on to considering lunch, and then dinner. Shopping lists are no problem.
I’m glad you got some rain, but sorry it caused so much trouble. We have been so fortunate here, in that during the nine years I’ve lived here, I have seen one power outage, and it lasted about three hours, which is much longer than I expected.
Bananas, yogurt, spinach, frozen peas ...
I don’t watch TV in the evening, as that’s when I read and settle down for the night. Otherwise, I get too wired to sleep. And then I’ll start a cycle of insomnia, and I hate that!
But it’s interesting to know that Adam West was providing himself with some retirement income!
We’ve had a few power outages of up to 12 hours, but only once or twice in 12 years. We had only flickers last night, and our street doesn’t flood.
Yes! All above but bananas, not a fan of unless they are in banana bread.
I’ll do peaches.
Awww...basement squee!
The filing yesterday was more brutal than I expected, and I ended up taking half a morphine at 1530. Eight hours later, I’m still awake. Then napped, then played solitaire, napped, solitaire, nap and here I am.
The naps are not really sleep, as I know it. Just heavy eyelids while my brain raced. When the eyelids got heavy, I would close them for a while...
I’m seeing the bottom of the paperwork to be filed, and that makes me happy. I don’t know if I’ll finish it today or not, because of the laundry. That will be hard on my back, too. But at least the pile is 3/4 gone. YAY!!
On both shows he does chariactures of himself. That is why he is so funny.,
Plus he has such s distinct voice.

I made coffee yesterday and stuck it in the fridge. :o]) I find I like cold coffee better than hot coffee, even in the winter. Go figger! LOL!
I have a list, too. While I’m picking up my prescription, I’ll get a couple of things. Like laundry detergent and Ibuprofen.
Bananas. I haven’t had any for a week or so. Thanks for reminding me. And some yogurt.
Yesterday was my younger brother’s birthday (older than me, but younger than the older brother) and Saturday is the older brother’s birthday. I totally spaced the younger one’s birthday until 1800 last night, and he was off celebrating.
A sister and a brother were a day apart (plus 12 years) but the brother passed away almost 20 years ago of pancreatic cancer.
Someone tried to get me involved in “Family Guy.” I watched part of one episode that had a woman trying to establish a relationship with a dog. There was one scene where she was sitting on the couch in her dress with her knees apart and runway lights flashing in toward the opening.
That was it for me and “Family Guy.” Maybe that was an outlier, but ...
Don’t forget the chocolate ice cream.
Oh, and the cookies. Chocolate chip cookies.
People die when they don’t bring home the basics.
