The time has come to take action against thread hijackers.
Let me begin with an example of thread hijacking:
Like most Freepers, I am pro-life. Abortion and and euthanasia appall me, and marketing the results even more so. I support candidates who oppose the culture of death, and cheer when it is thwarted.
I also do not find it necessary to mention these facts on EVERY. FREAKING. THREAD.
There is a certain type of Freeper, though, who has no such restraint. For these zealots, any thread that deviates from the pro-life cause, no matter how trivially, is a heresy that must be immediately suppressed.
You are shocked by cruelty to animals? I guess that means you couldn't care less about the cruelty of THE MILLIONS OF CHILDREN ABORTED EVERY YEAR!!!!!
You lost a beloved pet? Why can't you mourn THE THOUSANDS OF ABORTED BABIES WHO DIED THE SAME DAY?!!!!
Your car shredded its transmission and you're looking at thousands of dollars in repairs? Why aren't you thinking about THE BABIES WHO WILL NEVER GROW UP TO BE AUTO MECHANICS BECAUSE THEY WERE ABORTED?!!!!
(OK, maybe I made that last one up.)
Arguing with these people is pointless. It's the same principle as wrestling with a pig - you just get muddy and the pig enjoys it. Similarly, trying to convince them that they are being rude is a waste of time - THE CAUSE is far more important little things like courtesy and respect.
So, what can we do about it?
We can get drunk.
I hereby propose The Thread Hijack Drinking Game. The rules are simple: When a poster tries to hijack an unrelated thread to his or her pet cause, you 1) reply to the hijack attempt by quoting the text in question, followed by the word "DRINK!", and 2) Take a drink (or any volume) of your favorite beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). Moderation is suggested on animal cruelty threads to avoid alcohol poisoning.
This game will not, I admit, solve the thread hijacking problem. But after a certain number of attempts we will no longer care.
And if anyone is offended by my little proposal, I can only say...
DRINK!
Buying, but I want to buy cheap....
According to travel.state.gov it’s $140.
They want people coming in, but not getting out. What does that remind me of?
Back from the doctor’s. Now we will start working on the lower spine. :o]
First step is x-rays. Oh wait...that’s the second step. Seeing the primary care doc is first.
Yah. East Berlin.
lol
I’m making it
They're good for you.
Health food donuts....YUM!
LOL
The memory of that episode lingers from childhood. Loopy Lucy.
That trip to Vegas this morning was a little on the scary side, and now I’m getting to be afraid to drive. I don’t want to make the problem any worse, but that’s what’s happening.
I will need to order the part and find out how much it will cost to install it ASAP, or I will be walking to Walmart again soon.
One of you named the part but I didn’t write it down and now I can’t recall it, but I can remember looking for it at a parts house for price and availability.
All I can offer at this time is cute.
It’s cute.
It is very cute! Thanks!

And now I’m depressed again...I have to find that post...
Look in the 600s.
I found it. Thanks.
*sigh*
What am I going to do? This is so ugly. I found the part but it ranges from $30 to $150 and I don’t know which one is needed. Naturally, I want the least expensive (I don’t need the high dollar stuff with the little bit of driving I do) but I need someone to look at the parts (two websites) and tell me what I need.

1992 Geo tracker, 1.6L, L4...2nd choice on page.
My son still hasn’t called and that makes me feel worse because I need his input. And of course, Busdaddy would be helpful, too, but...
So I’m going to go to bed and hope things look better tomorrow.
