The machines started humming this week, the mixers were running, and the freezers were chilling. They started making ice cream. Not just ice cream, but Blue Bell Ice Cream The Best Ice Cream in the Country. The production crew was making sure they followed all the new procedures for getting cleaned up and the equipment spic & span. In the Blue Bell plant in Sylacauga Alabama, everyone was smiling. This was the first batch of Blue Bell being produced since March in any of the Blue Bell plants. This batch will not be headed to stores. Instead, it will be tested to make certain the new procedures have eliminated the listeria bacteria that has plagued the company since earlier this year.

The damage to the companys reputation and to their bottom line have been the stuff of great speculation over the last few months, including their ability to bounce back, or if they were ripe for a takeover for another company. Those fears were abated by the entry last week of Fort Worth billionaire Sid Bass, who brought $125 million dollars to that table in exchange for about a one-third ownership of the iconic Texas company, as previously reported by Breitbart Texas Lana Shadwick.

Thank you ice cream God.
“Makes my tummy happy just thinking about it. “
A friend makes her own ice-cream. Nothing I’ve bought in the store compares to it. She uses real cream and regular milk. Those are the only ingredients. I find myself wondering why, since it’s so simple to make, can’t a manufacturer come up with something at least as tasty?
When we were living in Texas Blue Bell was our ice cream of choice. Later on, when we found it in a Kentucky store while on vacation, we were really disappointed. I’d assume what we bought was a half gallon that had been in the store freezer a bit too long and gone “stale”. But now living back up in the north midwest we have found Edy’s to be the best thing going since those halcyon days of Texas and fresh Blue Bell.
yes
Sigh...
If it ain’t Blue Bell, it’ ain’t Ice Cream !
our local Piggly Wiggly (NC coast) carries it....we like it...love the conservative ownership.....some of their flavors are awesome...some so so....but def better than most.
Grew up on damn good homemade ice cream.
Blue bell is pretty close.
Try Andy’s Frozen Custard. Its a drive thru, not in stores. Still not good as Blue Bell.

Blue Bell is now full of corn syrup and other crud. It’s a case of a classic brand cheaping out on ingredients to save money.
Amazing they are able to come back. I really wonder if this wasn’t an attempt by bam bam regulators to shut down a conservative company.
There will be people standing in line in the ferocious Texas heat to get their first Blue Bell fix of the summer. And it will be worth it!
Cost is the biggest reason.
Best Ice cream in the country?? No... The best ice cream: ‘Shady Glen’
Costco’s house brand, Kirkland is the absolute best. It only comes in vanilla. And you get real half gallon boxes.
Probably won’t taste the same. Like when the benzene was taken from Perrier.
“You obviously haven’t tried Blue Bell French Vanilla . “
That’s true. I tend to avoid anything with the name “French.” I also no longer buy ice cream as it calls to me. “Hey! You! I’m in the freezer, waiting for you.” (It’s not the same voice telling me to buy an assault weapon and ammunition. I don’t understand that one as it knows I already have an assault weapon.) I’m at the point where the best way to hold onto my pants size is not to buy things that threaten it.
Not a lot of cream in ice cream any more. These days you can freeze it down to forty below and then with one hand push a knife right thru it. It has a sort of rubbery emulsified feel to it. If it isn’t Carvel I don’t bother anymore. “Breyers” used to be a decent treat 40 years ago. It isn’t worth space in the garbage can today.
That is not uncommon. My wife makes apple pie. Nothing Ive bought in the store or eaten in a restaurant compares to it.
