In a 1½ hour span Wednesday night, Carrick lost a community tradition some six decades old.
The St. Basil Catholic Parish summer festival the parishs biggest annual fundraiser will cease to exist after brawling teenagers prompting its early closure out of fear for public safety, according to the parishs pastor, the Rev. Stephen Kresak.

Father Kresak said the festival has been plagued by brawls before. He said a small group of teens who came from outside the Carrick community cause problems, and he believes the festival gave teenagers a place to congregate without being noticed as out of the ordinary.

The annual festival was supposed to run from Wednesday through Saturday night but only lasted about two hours on its opening evening as six brawls between teenagers were reported between 9:30 and 11 p.m., Pittsburgh public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said. Two police officers were serving as security that night, but the teenagers only dispersed when more officers arrived.

Somewhere in time and space...Beavis and Butthead are laughing.
Steelers fans.
Hey jealous..
I used to have a white cat and a black cat. The white cat was named “Whites” and the black cat was named “Blacks”. I believe in equal rights.
I wish they would fight back instead of giving in.
Security and planning with the local police force and state and sheriff’s department could nip this in the bud. These people are showing up because they can disrupt things and take power. But they will not show up if they are challenged.
We lose our freedoms one surrender at a time.
We have a festival that has been largely a parishioner event, but they’re trying to increase outside attendance. We’re in a bit of an isolated location, so it’s not something the general public notices.
Everything’s been peaceful all along for us, too, even with the Knights selling beer. The ethnic food booths are a big success: our Mexicans and South Americans can really cook!
I’ve never been to that beer garden or any biergarten but happened to purchase a can of “beer” last night that nearly knocked me out. A lager, I guess, 8.1%. Should have been labeled “novice users use extreme caution”.
Some very strong beers are being made now. I notice sometimes when we’re at the drinks-and-fancy-grocery-store. I suppose it’s a matter of state law how high the alcohol content can be, with its still being sold as beer.
I drink wine that’s weaker than your beer. (7.5%, $2.87 a bottle at Aldi ;-).
Catholic parishes used to be the rock solid foundation of the neighborhoods when I was young. They had everything including schools, community, sports teams, boy scouts, and social events that welcomed everyone. Today it is almost impossible to have any kind of function in a parish that even borders on the inner city lest they be overrun by marauding gangs of black thugs.
The answer is beyond me. All I know is that I got my CCW this week and will have an SD (Self Defense) device shortly. I am 73 with some health issues and I am afraid for what is going to happen to this country in the years to come. Right now we need to protect ourselves and our families.
This is all part of zero's plan.
Get in Whitey's face.
Intimidate him, assault him, steal his stuff.
If he fights back, prosecute him.
The fuse has been lit.
The next 17 mos will "interesting".
Be prepared.
Whirlstah!!!
You don’t have to guess. It’s right there in the item, “teens.” That’s the fading PC term for gimmedats.
No doubt.
I guess Jets vs Sharks.
The official policy is, Give those who wished to destroy space to do that.
These mobs will be emboldened by the inaction of the authorities. They will become more and more dangerous. Malls will and have closed. Tourist destinations will lose business. Festivals will be cancelled. Any public place will be insecure. These progressive mayors are not smart enough to know where their tax dollars come from. In the parks of our great cities, exactly as in all jungles, honest men may no longer move at night; when the sun goes down they must stay near the fires, while the beasts prowl. In those dark jungles and along the jungle paths into which the night transforms so many city streets, huge dogs now join the few hunters still on trail. - James Burnham

Definitely; the parishes there are shells. A couple of ethnic parishes still have festivals, but they have a lot of cops around when they do it.
... and their dang long-hair music!
LOL! Good one.
