Why did Officer Encinia approach the car on the passenger's side when he interacted with Sandra Bland?
Officer Encinia released his gun holster before he approached Sandra Bland's car. Is this standard practice with all traffic stops?
Was Sandra Bland forcibly removed from her car because Officer Encinia didn't like her attitude?
Officer Encinia radios "10:98," and requests a second car. Well, a 10:98 is a jail break, or an escaping prisoner. A 10:78, that is, "assistance needed" would have been more appropriate?
When a detainee notifies the arresting officer of a preexisting medical condition, such as epilepsy, and/or an injury sustained during the arrest, are paramedics called to the scene?
I have one question for the female police officer that arrived on the scene: How you doin'? Do you feel you fully exercised your unique position as a female police officer to use your voice and presence to calm this irate twenty-something woman down?
Why are two police officers searching the vehicle so thoroughly for a minor traffic stop?
Is that poor editing, or a magic trick that tow truck drivers learn in Texas?
Did Sandra Bland have a right to know why she was being arrested?
Did anyone recite Sandra Bland's Miranda rights?

I've been pulled over for very dumb things...multiple times.
I could tell you stories.....
Nine died...18 others shot.
People jailed with MILLION DOLLAR bails....
U.S. Citizens cars and bikes seized.....
It's totally @%#$% wrong...and no one in D.C. says a freaking thing!!
Local news says it is SOP to ask for people to put out their cigarettes because they can be used as a weapon . She was also a “ social justice activist “ . Whatever . She was looking for a fight .
My understanding is the Miranda Rights only have to be read to you before you are officially charged, or interrogated about a crime in which you are a suspect.
If arrested, they are usually given to you in writing at the police station. You sign that you have received a copy.
I can’t even imagine approaching a car in todays’s climate.
40 year I had a family member gunned down for a traffic stop.

Safer from passenger side, less chance of being run over, 85 percent of people are right handed and will carry their dominant side, more room to disengage if it does go south.
Releasing his gun holster is not a policy, it is an individual tactic or technique. Since police duty holsters are level 2 or 3 retention, some officers will release one of those retention devices to have less delay in drawing. Good practice will overcome any draw lag time and I don’t do it personally.
Bland was forcibly removed from her vehicle because she refused to do so when ordered by the police officer. He was well within the legal scope of his duties to do so.
Different 10 codes for different agencies, in mine at 10-98 is a bomb threat and rarely heard.
Officers are under no obligation to believe a person’s claim to be injured but they can summon medical assistance. If the person is found to be faking or lying about their purported injury, they can be charged with another crime.
Female thing does not apply to me.
The search of the vehicle is incident to arrest and for inventory. Don’t do a good one and you might miss contraband or fail to make notice of that expensive piece of radio equipment that the tow yard decides to take for themselves.
Bland did have a right to know why she was being arrested. The officer has an obligation to say. She has no obligation to resist and he has not obligation to discuss the matter any further after “You are under arrest for X. Turn around an place your hands behind your back.”
She is not required to be Mirandized until two components have been satisfied. Physical custody and the intent to utilize guilt seeking questions about a specific crime.
You are so right. - When I was 18 yrs. old, I came to a “rolling stop” at a stop sign. Down in Mississippi. Patrolman pulled me over. - I was taught “yes sir” & “no sir” by my parents- He did not give me a ticket. I had just been to the doctor on the base & found out I was expecting. Was rattled. - He didn’t hassle me OR bother me in any way. Just issued a warning & told me to drive carefully. I’m 68 yrs. old now.
I would not be a policeman unless I could require people that I pull over to get out while I sat in my car. It has to come to this.
The regime’s department of Just Us is going to have a fight on their hands. This is the State of Texas DPS. State Troopers. Greg Abbot is their ultimate boss. He doesn’t bow down to the muslim in chief.
I’ve always lived in Texas, other than time in the Navy.
LEOs here have always approached a vehicle they have stopped on the driver’s side of the vehicle. If there are two LEOs, one of them will also go to the passenger side; especially if there are other occupants.
The author of the article is full of it!
As for Miranda rights, ...
****************************
Only required is the person is placed under arrest. Being detained is not officially an arrest.
However if you are being detained and ask for a lawyer things change rapidly.
My understanding is they approach the vehicle on the passenger so theyre not between the vehicle and traffic. A simple safety measure

I believe that most laws require that drivers behind move over to the next lane when a police or emergency vehicle is on the right sholder.
btw... the woman was a known black activist and ignored the officer’s direct orders. Likely trying to create an incident.
Many in the media keep saying she was arrested for failing to use her turn signal. She was arrested for assault. Big difference.
The MSM is not to be trusted - ever - with any story.
I have been stopped a few times and never from the passenger side.
Apparently the cops were staking the place out due to some recent weekend burglaries there. Once they determined that I hadn't kidnapped my date and wasn't the burglar they were waiting for, they let me go... even despite my stinking like a brewery at that point.
Maybe I am wrong, but I don’t think the feds ever got involved in the Knoxville Horror case.
“40 year I had a family member gunned down for a traffic stop”
Really.
Details?
Not to mention that box of jewelry in the trunk, you know, the one with a million dollars in jewels, turns up missing. . .time to sue the PD and city for the lost property.
