Far too often, women who choose to be childfree are asked to defend their immature, selfish lifestyles. Theyre told that motherhood is the most important job in the world and face accusations of living meaningless lives.
The number of childfree women is at a record high: 48 percent of women between the ages of 18 and 44 dont have kids, according to 2014 Census numbers.
The Huffington Post and YouGov asked 124 women why they choose to be childfree. Their motivations ranged from preferring their current lifestyles (64 percent) to prioritizing their careers (9 percent) a.k.a. fairly universal things that have motivated men not to have children for centuries. To give insight into the complex, layered decisions women make, HuffPost asked childfree readers to discuss the reasons they have chosen not to have kids and gathered 270 responses here.
Of course, these women dont owe anyone an explanation, but perhaps allowing the public to read their unique perspectives will open peoples minds to the wide range of mature, unselfish motivations that go into deciding not to have kids.

If they’re happy with their life choices, why do they need my understanding or approval? Can’t they be happy with my complete indifference to them?
Two hundred seventy-one reason: So a spawn such as Ariana Huffington wouldn’t be born.
Welcome to the world of video games and virtual life. I personally found a way to get to have my occasional entertainment, still pursue additional education, and enjoy a marriage all at the same time. As long as there’s som personal constraint and planning at work, it’s possible.
Consider the source. Most women, more so that read stuff like Huffpo are they “childfree” because they are chaste or because they use contraception and/or have abortions.
Many are conflicted and anxious about their choices, or rather neglect of this matter, and now they are up against the biological limit. So there is much rationalizing to do.
“I meant to do that !” and etc.
My inference, because I'm unaware of a direct explanation, is that God wants there to be as many as possible for Him to shower blessing upon, especially in heaven, and in His wisdom He decided to rely upon us to provide them. Of course, there may be valid reasons for choosing childlessness, but God's desire seems clear.
The “childfree” movement is the high church of abortion. I have been stalked by these demoniacs, and can testify to their evil. They would just as soon kill off every one of us “breeders” and all our children. They personify the left’s most hallowed virtues: hatred, narcissism and nihilism.
People have offspring, who they do their best to set up in life...... and when they get old, they have someone to care for them.
It would be hell to get old with nobody to turn to.
“The childfree movement is the high church of abortion....”
I know exactly what it is. They use the word “childfree” because they don’t like their guilty conscience.
Some people have lifestyles, some people have lives.
Excellent points.
It’s just never occurred to me that it’s any of my business why people don’t have children. I’m probably naïve in just figuring single people wouldn’t, and if they’re married people, such as my brother and his wife, I’m not even curious.
Do you think these women really find lot of people who care about their not having children?
Anymore I don’t mind that leftist lesbians are choosing not to reproduce.
” ... 48 percent of women between the ages of 18 and 44 dont have kids”
Why are they including teenagers in this statistic? If you remove the 18 and 19 year old girls from this poll, then the number of woman without kids is only 10%.
“For behold, the days are coming when they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’”
Unmarried mothers now constitute about half of all US births.
Do you think these women really find lot of people who care about their not having children?
As you know, people, especially those who don't have the Holy Spirit urging them to reach out, tend to mingle almost exclusively with like-minded folk because it's comfortable and affirming. So, no, these women are not looking for anyone who has an opinion contrary to theirs, much less interested in upbraiding them about it.
If only liberals would just “not have kids” everything would be great! The only problem is that know that not having kids and abortion are thinning their ranks every year. Hence the open borders with free EBT cards, amnesty, and voting privileges to all illegals to keep these evil idiots in power. Not to mention homosexual adoption...
Having children or not is a deeply personal decision. I don't mock out my friends who have kids (nor my three siblings and my wife's brother, all of whom have kids) by calling them breeders or any other derogatory name. By the same standards, I won't tolerate fundamentalist tripe (be it Muslim or Christian) telling me what to do, based on a book that half the world doesn't believe in.

Not having kids doesn't mean that is a choice that one has made. How many of that 48 percent were unable to have children?
I think the best thing for people that do not want children can do, is not have them. To really do parenting right is demanding, and requires long committment. I do not think evrry single person needs to have kids. Half assing it is the reason we have problems with feral youths in urban areas right now.
