Due to limited space, the base cabinets all had to moved out of the way in the kitchen, and the furniture all moved to one side of the family room. I did it all by myself on Wednesday night (wasn't going to get any sleep anyway).
The old dryer turned out to be direct wired, so the delivery/set up guys wouldn't finish the installation. Hubby had to install an electrical outlet, and level the unit etc. I had to help keep track of tools, find tools, hand him tools, hold lights etc.
So that's why I'm late to the party. Have to be in the kitchen with Hubby for assistance and moral support. LOL
Storm a couple of nights ago laid Hubby's corn on the ground. He was able to get some of it standing upright again, so we'll see how it goes. I got a little cleanup done on the patios and hope to get back to more gardening later this weekend.
Hope you are all doing well. Prayers up for Johnny and Arrowhead. Have a great 4th. God Bless.
Pinging the list.
may the prayers bare ‘fruit’
Oh, yes, by the way - we got our first two cukes of the season. Made refrigerator DILL pickles. Totally sugar and salt free, but plenty of other spices and sliced onions to go with. Makes a great side dish.
Anyone ever make pickles the old fashioned - fermented - way? I’m thinking about giving it a try.
Very clever. I echo the sentiment.
It’s a beautiful day here in Massachusetts. We have some squash and peppers that are doing well, and my roses are coming back to life.
I hope that your corn fully recovers!
‘squash’ and Bideo ...
Bideo?
I make my own refrigerator pickles every year, I like them crunchy. I even pickle my banana peppers, sliced into rings.
could be a misspelling on my part ... but ‘seeking right turn Clyde’
My hollyhocks have been hit with a fungus. I gather it is too late to do anything this year. So sad.
Am thinking about planting something else next year, like echinacea or foxglove.
A good many showers here in Atlanta, too. My butter beans have reached the top of their ten feet poles.., gotta re-enforce the re-enforcement metal stakes tomorrow.
I pulled pulled four flats of Krim (tomatoes) yesterday. Decided to weigh them at the Whole Foods cost ($4.99 per pound) for heirloom maters..., that’s $314.00 of fruit. Ha!
I’ll treat them all with Daconil tomorrow as it has been a bit cool + the recent rain.
Okra is still rocking.. It’s on the menu tonight.
Roma beans are great.. Fordhooks are “on their way”.
Greetings to all and happy 4th! Here in west Michigan we are having near perfect weather. Garden is growing well. First round of lettuce and radishes all gone, new ones coming up. Tomatoes small and green, getting a few peppers, shishito and banana. Broccoli heads looking good, may pick one tomorrow. Also picked 2 pickles and stick them in the fridge for a few days until I get some more. Spaghetti squash is getting unruly, first time growing it, man it really wants to take over. Finished eating and freezing a whole row of that baby bok choi. JUST LOVE IT! Have a second row planted. Eating lots of salsa, using up jars of home canned dices tomatoes, Vidalia onion chopped fine, green onion, and cilantro from the garden. Then I put in a teaspoon of liquid from my home canned jalapeno slices and just a few of those slices chopped up really fine. It’s addicting. Getting ready for hubby to take a slab of ribs off the grill and I made potato salad, had nice fresh dill to put in it. Looking forward to some green beans and much more. Have a great weekend my Freeper gardening friends and God Bless America!
Now I’m really stumped! :)
Gardens are doing well. Loads of Amish paste and cherry tomatoes. Cukes enough to make our first pickles and onion mix. Jalapeno& other peppers are doing nicely. Cyans are slow to turn red. These were bought from a local garden store rather than seed started with the rest back in February.
Wishing everyone a great, safe 4th of July and let us remember why we celebrate our Independence Day.
:^) to quote someone I love ... (smile)

If you look up lower east side pickles, you can see how real pickles are made. I plan on making garlic half sours later this summer.
Add me to the list, please. I’m an old horticulturist from Virginia Tech back around 1977. Just about given up gardening here in suburban Richmond, VA because of all the deer. Not to mention dry shade, clay soil, summer drought and all that.
