)It's a showdown between the two top teams in women's football -- and according to United States star Alex Morgan, it is "virtually a final."
Morgan and her USWNT teammates take on favorite Germany in Montreal for a place in the Women's World Cup final against either England or Japan on July 5.
It's hard to pick a winner from two nations which have each triumphed at the tournament twice -- even though the USWNT have not lifted the trophy since 1999 and Germany have won two of the last three tournaments.
So far, neither team has had an entirely smooth path to the last four, with both having struggled to produce top form at times.
Germany needed penalties to see off France after a tense quarterfinal, while its American counterparts were criticized for the sluggish performance that eventually brought a 2-0 win over Colombia in the round of 16.
Michelle Akers, a member of the team that won those two World Cups, went as far as to question whether coach Jill Ellis was the right person for the job.
Speaking after the match, she told radio show SiriusXM FC: "If she's pleased with the way we played, then what the hell is she doing coaching our U.S. team?"
"We take it personal. That's our baby out there, too."

Typical of today’s journalistic reporting - We know the date of the final, but neither the day or time of the semi-final against Germany.
Today..7 PM EDT
I know what you mean.....you read articles and basic information is missing and it happens all the time.....
does anyone know if the USA team will still be without the services of the two women given yellow cards?...
Sometimes I wonder, just what is it that they teach in journalism school?................
They will play now. It was just a one game suspension.

Chapter #1, Journalism 100:
Who, what, when, where, why?
Five W’s of journalism
My guess is that it is STIL in the course material, but supervision/editing are so lax and incompetent, that nobody really cares or bothers.
Our little hometown newspaper does it frequently. Often details for an event will be in the last paragraph and when composing the edition it’s usually the last several paragraphs that get cut for space. If an editor doesn’t catch it, the reader (and organizers) are left scratching their heads.
That there is one good looking “inny”.
Pogey bait..........................
It’s a collision between the best offense and the best defense in the tournament. Should be interesting. The U.S. has been struggling offensively and can’t afford to play from behind. I just hope the refs don’t decide it. That’s a risk in any sport, but especially so in soccer given the low scores.

Today, the game is on your local Fox affiliate, tomorrow’s Japan vs. England is on Fox Sports if I have this correct.
Hehe...haven’t heard that in a good while.
That probably should have been a free kick for the USA but Germany got some breaks in their prior game. No big deal. We are leading, 1-0, 72nd minute now, not much time left. Germany has had some very good attacks.
2-0. Time for a diet coke in celebration.
Hell, go for the Full Monty! Have one with HFCS in it!.....................
Yeah, all those white girls play hard...................
