Word For The Day, Monday, 6/29/15
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
obdurate, adj.
1. unmoved by persuasion, pity, or tender feelings; stubborn; unyielding.
2. stubbornly resistant to moral influence; persistently impenitent: an obdurate sinner
Etymology: 1400-1450 1400-50; late Middle English obdurat < Latin obdūrātus (past participle of obdūrāre to harden), equivalent to ob- ob- + dūr (us) hard + -ātus -ate1
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Justices Kagan and Ginsburg did NOT “make a mistake”. The did not recuse themselves, desire having presided over same-sex “weddings”!
PHOOEY to the Supreme Court!!!!
There once was an inevitable candidate
Whose liberalism she can not moderate
She gives it a try
But we all see the lie
Hillary is just selfish and mean and obdurate
The obdurate sodomites on the left will not be happy until we all pay homage to the rainbow instead of the red, white and blue. To wit:
You’re a grand old fag, you’re a high-flying fag...
good one! A+++
LOL! now I have an earworm! A+++
A sweet, gentle, and very smart woman I saw at church last night said, sadly, “I feel as if I’ve lived one week too long,” after the events of last week.
I lived through the supreme court decision legalizing abortion. I will live through this.
I see that upcoming TV will be celebrating transgender teens. First, there is a report coming on NBC about a 10 year old, and then there is a show coming in the fall on one of the discovery channels about a teen aged boy who wants to be a girl called, “I am Jazz”. The ads are running right now.
:(
Have we really lived? I never thought that Roe would last longer than a year. Look at all the babies who have not lived.
We lived, untold innocent babies have not.
I wonder what impact Seinfeld had - with its "not that there's anything wrong with that" line everytime anything regarding homosexuality was mentioned.
We are now (and really probably have been for some time) living in the Post-Constitutional Era.
Probably.
Yes, reality shows celebrate the mental illness of gender confusion disorder as if it were some courageous act of self-expression rather than a condition in need of help. Other reality shows celebrate the polygamist lifestyle as if it is just a normal family arrangement. I would say the next barrier to be knocked down is any state polygamy laws. If states can’t define marriage as a union of one man and one woman, then there is no constitutional reason that they can restrict marriage to just two partners. After that, the next barrier will be age of consent laws. Pedophilia is the next “orientation” to seek out and demand equal rights.
England has proposed lower age consent laws to age 10. Just read it last week in the news.
So, the onus is upon us to change things -- to make our society welcoming to life. All these years, I thought that donating to RTL causes, and speaking out from time to time among my friends when the topic came up and joining a prayer chain occasionally was enough. I can see that it was not, and the burdon is upon us to do more.
A+++ will try to give that a listen, I need uplifting.
God bless her, that about sums it up.
